LOL classic!

was good for a laugh though, especially this bit
"If ancient humans existed over 100,000 years ago, then their population
would have been larger than billions"

the argument these nut cases use is quite funny, they often quote that with
the current population growth that if the human race was a million years
old, then humans would cover the world enough that they would go out to
pluto, this of cos would contradict the laws of thermodynamics which they
obviously didn't take into account, or disease, wars, famines etc.

Professor Richard Dawkins did a calculation in 1984 and worked out that
using the same reasoning rats would go out past pluto if they only appeared
on the earth in 1948!!

always good for a laugh

[cfaussie] Re: Coldfusion Upgrade Protection

2007-06-21 Thread Dale Fraser

Hey Robin,

Perhaps I don't understand subscriptions then.

Are you saying that if you buy CF7 with Sub, at the end of the 2 years you
just renew your sub and not pay for another licence?

If so, can you provide sample pricing, Im sure the group would be
interested, ie:

Enterprise 7$
Enterprise 7 with Sub$
Enterprise 7 Sub Renewal$

There are probably a lot of people here about to buy 8 or renew subs, so
would be very useful info.

I said "good", not "safe" - as a rule of thumb it has worked for many
customers since version 4.5.

The real advantage of subscriptions are that if you are going to be
running a CF app long-term and intend to keep it running on the
latest and greatest CF, they free your cashflow planning up from the
vagaries of release timing because you know exactly when your
subscription renewals will fall due.

[cfaussie] Re: passing APP name

2007-06-21 Thread Scott Thornton

http://www.coldfusioncookbook.com/entry/128/How-do-I-programmatically-create-a-new-datasource?
may help. Doesn't mention a application name though.

>>> "skateboard.com.au" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 22/06/2007 10:55 am >>>

Hi Fellas

I'm using CFMX 6.1
I want to pass the APP name connection string param to sql server. Is it
possible to do this as part of the CF administrator settings?

I assume I can just do a direct connection using cfobject and create the
conn string manually. Having trouble finding working examples on the
net. Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

thanks

I said "good", not "safe" - as a rule of thumb it has worked for many
customers since version 4.5.

The real advantage of subscriptions are that if you are going to be
running a CF app long-term and intend to keep it running on the
latest and greatest CF, they free your cashflow planning up from the
vagaries of release timing because you know exactly when your
subscription renewals will fall due.

[cfaussie] Re: ColdFusion 8 and Windows Tablet PC Edition

2007-06-21 Thread Mike Kear

Just avoid the use of tables in your html markup and use CSS instead
and it will be much easier

Use DIVS to divide up the content into logical groups and you'll be
able to have a CSS style sheet for a 22" screen and another for you
fancy little gadget. That's one of the primary objectives that CSS
was designed to enable.

Now is the time to learn CSS. designing multiple layouts for
different uses holds no threat for me after a while using CSS. It
would have scared me somewhat when i started on CSS but not any
longer. It will be the same for you.
