Yes the ++ is another welcomed edition, the stupid thing is that I asked for
that back in the 3.1 days and got told never going to happen.

The same as the list null, never going to get fixed...

Now

cfset checklist =one,,three,four /
cfset newArray = listToArray(checklist) /

Very welcomed, and about time only ten years late on both...

Peter,

Labs.adobe.com clearly says Coldfusion beta

If it is a release candidate then Adobe should say so:-) But of course the
pre release program may say different:-)

No. For Scorpio they had Alpha 1, Alpha 2, Beta 1, Beta 2, then RC (or
RC 1). Expect even more stuff in the final product release. It has
gotten better with each release.

NB: CFMENU is sl compared to the AJAX menus Dreamweaver CS3

[cfaussie] Re: Did You Know

2007-07-04 Thread Peter Tilbrook

No. RC became the public beta. Release Candidate is considered closer
to the final product than Alpha or Beta. For the insiders testing CF8
for ages it is the RC. In fact the download files I get actually have
RC in the filename.

They are the exact same product at this stage - right down to build
number. We may have another RC release depending on the testing
everyone in the wider world are now doing - which would push back the
release of CF8 commercially. But good things are worth waiting for.

Peter, go back and read what you replied too.

You just did a back flip on everything.

We know Beta is RC, so why did you start by telling us otherwise.

[cfaussie] Re: Did You Know

2007-07-04 Thread David Harris

thanks for the [nudge]...
it's on UGTV now

Charlie Arehart wrote:

I'll also ask, though, why you think only a US version would be stored on
the UGTV repository? :-) There's no jingoism there. Anyone who finds any
CF-related recorded presentation (anywhere in the world) can post it there.

Now, for some reason David Harris had not posted the URL for the one I did
to Auckland (though he blogged it), and Darren and company have for some
reason not yet gotten the recording from when I spoke there.

But you can now find the URL for the Auckland recording in the searchable,
sortable, RSS-able UGTV list, which has now over 140 talks from around the
 world (http://carehart.org/ugtv/list.cfm).

BTW, when I do present to the Vic CFUG, there will be still more new stuff
that I've discovered in recent weeks. CF8 truly is a treasure trove.

one of the most useful checklists on CF8 features is the presentation

I saw him present it for the NZ CFUG. He later did another version for the
 QLD CFUG too.

Perfect for mental jogs on what slipped thru the cracks. There is a
*TON* of stuff in this new release. It's hard work remembering it all.

  - David from the NZ CFUG could probably point you to their recording of the

one of the most useful checklists on CF8 features is the presentation
given by Charlie Arehart called Hidden Gems in ColdFusion8.

I saw him present it for the NZ CFUG. He later did another version for the
QLD CFUG too.

Perfect for mental jogs on what slipped thru the cracks. There is a
*TON* of stuff in this new release. It's hard work remembering it all.

 - David from the NZ CFUG could probably point you to their recording of the
presso.
 - Darren Tracey might have access to the QLD CFUG version as well.
 - And maybe there's a U.S. version on Charlie's UserGroup TV?
(storage of Breezo'd presentations).

hope this helps.

For some reason, I didn't see Barrie's note below to the list, but I'll say
 thanks for the reference.

 Barry,

Yes I have seen that, in fact have Charlie lined up for next Vic UG giving
that talk, so I didn't read the preso as I didn't want to spoil it.

[cfaussie] Re: Did You Know

2007-07-03 Thread Andrew Scott

Mark,

I have to say that when that was still a proof of concept, I really could
not understand how it would fit into a web scripting language and I have to
say that benefits are humungous.

I could imagine that within Transfer it would be a huge benefit..

I know that I have rewritten a lot of stuff with the new interface, for
CFC's so great fun makes the design pattern implementations so much easier.

The downside is that none of our clients are going to benefit, for at least
12-18 months.

[cfaussie] Re: Did You Know

2007-07-03 Thread Mark Mandel

The annoying thing is that I will have to write code such that cf8
users can leverage thread tags, whereas 8 users won't be able too
for Transfer.

But that's waaay down the road ;) (post 1.0 I'll worry about that methinks)

[cfaussie] Re: Did You Know

hopefully people will now realise why the CF8 beta is public** and why
CFUG's have been talking for ages about CF8 features. There's lots to
cover.

**
 - plan Migration/compatability issues (Marks' point)
 - get used to a $%!+Load of new stuff.
 - plan ahead for projects that can use the new features as soon as
CF8 is released.

is it the middle of the year yet?

Yeah,

Too much goodness, make sure you all turn up for the July Vic UG with
Charlie and Hidden Gems.

cfset charlie = {} /
cfset charlie.howGood = 0 /
cfloop index=i from=1 to=10
cfset charlie.howGood++ /

Note the two new CF8 things.
