2007-03-09 Thread Peter Tilbrook

My mongrel Acer Ferrari 3400 died this morning (again) after little
more than 2 weeks after repairs (flat-mate and beer). Checking email
and the - thankfully rare - Blue screen of death. And now will not
boot at all. BSOD - wow - buggy software? Nup. Appears hardware
related.

Not happy at all. Pissed off actually. Repairs costs already were
nearing AUD$2000.00. And starting a brand new MAJOR development
without my little red girl - I am not happy.

On top of that a bloke "borrowed" a 19" monitor and haven't heard from
him since.

Apologies to Adobe for not being as active in the you-know-what beta
test after all this aggrivation!

Sigh! sometimes this IT passion sucks!

Well, if Mark Picker is going to be sitting in on the FarCry BOF with
no pants on then I think talking OO would definitely be preferable :P
It's a hard choice between FaryCry and OO for me though, I've just got
too much to do and learn and not enough time to do it!

Thanks Charlie ;o)

I have to ask - is there even anyone out there that wants to talk OO? I
mean, obviously very broad topic, we could cover basics, design patterns,
whatever.
(I'll make sure to bring down my gang of four book)

Just figured I would ask the question as everyone seems mostly keen on
apollo (and rightly so).

And I am more than happy to just talk basic OO concepts if anyone who is
more 'procedural' wants to learn more about OO and why they may wish to make
the switch, so if anyone is interested but feel that it may be over their
head, don't be.

With ApolloCamp only days away (http://apollocamp.eventbrite.com/) and
webDU being graced with two Apollo team members (M1 & M2 - the two
Mikes) perhaps we can have an early bird:BoF/double lucky purple
dragon get together of some kind for interested parties... Ah the
glassy eyes of the faithful!

I'd never say no to sitting in on some FarCry goodness, even if I have
to drag my butt out of bed to be there at 8am :)

Geoff, I'd be interested, though I don't have a particular BOF in mind. If
you have any you think would be popular, I'd offer to lead one (as long as
it's a topic I can contribute to, of course).

Subject: [cfaussie] OT: webdu birds of a feather

Folks,

My mention of webdu "birds of a feather" sparked some interest from various
CF vagabonds. Was hoping to poll the collective brains trust of folks on
cfaussie webdu'ers as to what they would like to see and if anyone wants to
put their hand up for an early morning session.

We have no breakfast planned this year (apart from tea/coffee and a doughnut
if you are lucky ;) -- so consequently we have some spare rooms and time
available before the day two keynote -- Tim Buntel and his Scorpio. Of
course this is "the morning after" and many folks are late starters.

"Birds of a Feather" is basically a mini-user group.. a more focused sort of
group for like minds to congregate and discuss stuff.

Mat Bryant from Daemon has put his hand up to lead a FarCry user group at
8am for 40mins. Does anyone have any interest in that subject or perhaps
other topics? Anyone want to coordinate and lead a BOF?

All the best,
