Re: [Chat] Recycling Problems

2008-05-29 Thread Jonathan Wetmiller
I'm not sure that info is entirely accurate. After
the city reversed its decision to require every
neighborhood to put their recycling in the front
several years ago, it named specific blocks in CV that
had to continue to put theirs at the front because
their alleys were too narrow for the larger trucks.
Many were in the area mentioned, but not all.

The west side of Abell, for instance (at least the
3000 block), could handle the trucks, and they
routinely go down the alley. If I recall correctly,
one of the neighborhood newsletters listed where each
block had to put their recycling at the time the
decision was made. If anyone still has that info, it
would be great to make it public again, because I
agree that it's a waste of city resources to have to
collect from both the front and back of houses.

[Chat] Fwd: Camp Success

2008-05-29 Thread Stephen J Gewirtz

This seems to me to be a very worthwhile cause. Please try to help.

Steve.

Please post on the CV discussion list and your quad list. Thanks.

To all:

A lady by the name of Reba Bullock, who is the Director of Camp
Success run at the Episcopl Church of St, Michael and All Angels that
is located in the Barclay-Greenmount community of north central
Baltimore is running a six week academic and cultural enrichment
summer camp designed for children, ages five through twelve.
The cost for this camp experience is $300. per student and runs for
six weeks from June 30th through August 8th, 2008.

This is a worthwhile program aimed at keeping the youngest of us safe
and off the streets during a very lazy time of the year and offers to
the students breakfast and lunch. There are currently 10 students in
need of this camp whose families cannot afford to pay for this camp.
We have sponsored one of the children, name unknown on the hope that
it will keep this child safe from all that is happening in the
communities of Baltimore.

Please consider sponsoring a youngster and if you cannot afford the
full amount, then please make a contribution in whatever amount you
can afford. I think that it is worthwhile. You can contact Ms.
Bullock at 410 467 3950 or [EMAIL PROTECTED] and make a committment
to help a youngster this year keep safe.

Thank you,

Christian and Pamela Wilson

down the alley and so they clumsily carry the bags and bins down some
way with trash spilling out all along the way, which they do not clean

[Chat] 2625 Guilford

2008-05-29 Thread Greg Alexander
Great news! Renovation has begun at 2625 Guilford! The house was purchased by
St. Ambrose from the City and has been abandoned for 10 years and has always
been the eye-sore of the block, not to mention a common place for people to
dump trash and for juveniles to hang out and smoke pot. They have already
made tremendous progress (I peaked in a window). And, with the recent
renovation next door at 2623 (which really needed it) this is very exciting
news in what has been a rough spring with all the crime on our block and
surrounding blocks.

See ya'll at the Festival!
