[Chevelle-List] Larry=Heat Shield for Carb and Spacer
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Second sent message. Larry: Good point. I had to return the Edelbrock Performance Carb with one inch spacer since there was no clearance room with hood and air cleaner. Then I went with Edelbrock 1901 Q-Jet replacement. Now, there is just about enough space to clear air cleaner. So, unsure if I could use any phenolic spacers due to room problems. Any other ideas ? Thanks, Ken --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Before you do that make sure you have enough clearance between hood and aircleaner. Larry __ Do You Yahoo!? [Chevelle-List] Bob: Parts numbers for Edelbrock heat isolators
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Bob: If you have the time I would appreciate the parts numbers. Thanks. Ken --- Bob [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Ken, Edelbrock makes heat isolation spacers for their carbs. There are two different types, depending on which style of manifold you have, single or dual plane, and the kit come with longer carbs studs. I put one on my car and as always, Edelbrock stuff fits as it should. The spacer is about 1/4 thick, made of some composite insulating material, with metal grommets at the stud locations. They are available from Jegs, Summit, etc., If you need the part numbers I can look them up for you. Starts great. When I ran it the other day and then stopped to refill at gas station, the Chevelle would not start. I had to wait for half hour. I believe it is fuel vapor lock. Solutions to this, i.e., move fule line or place something over fuel line ? Thanks, Ken McD... __ Do You Yahoo!? Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo! I will explain with greater clarification shortly. However, it appears a heat source was near a fuel line. This may have caused a temporary vapor lock when the car was stopped after running for awhile. To clarify, when attempting to restart, I was getting enough crank but no fuel. After a half hour, the car did turn over. Hence, this is why I thought of vapor lock since starting the car and running when cold was not problem. I am still interested in the heat shield for the Edelbrock Carb. Does Edelbrock make them for their carbs similar to Holley ? Cheers, Ken --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: also I think that sometimes the vapor lock can occur in the fuel pump. just a suggestion. thanks greg __ Do You Yahoo!?
