Hey gang,
I was just wondering, (an idle mind can be a dangerous thing!) is there
someplace/somewhere thatall of us on the listcould all post
photos of our chevelles elky's together?
I asked about a common place for biographies, etc earlier a lot
of people said they were interested but it never seemed to go anywhere. I
think that some kind of list page with bio's photos would be
great.

Chris,
I had 15X10 Cragars on my 72. I don't know what the
backspacing was. Running BFG 255-60-15s I had to
raise the rear with air shocks and the previous owner
had some huge springs in the back. I didn't like the
ride or the stance. I now have 15X7 ralleys and have
put stock performance springs and the ride height is
normal. Without the big springs the tires would rub on
the wheel well lip.

Re: [Chevelle-List] Refurbishing Wiring Harness

2002-03-07 Thread I. M. Shrejk

Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List

To the chevelle-list brain trust that answers a question about where a
wire on a wiring harness should be attached with the response go buy a
book, may all their questions be answered with such wisdom and experience.

FYI, I bought my Chevelle brand new in 1969 and have kept in in a state of
original condition for over 30 years. In that time, I have accumulated a
sizable number of volumes on Chevy repair including 2 OEM Service manuals, a
Factory Assembly Manual, the Fisher Body Service Manual, a Chevy Parts
Interchange Manual, a Rochester Quadrajet overhaul manual, and many others.
Since 1969, I have also bought two other Chevelles, one of which was an all
original 1970 in mint condition in which, unfortunately, my daughter lost
control on a gravel road and hit a school bus head on which did $27,000
damage to the bus and completely totalled out my pride and joy red and white
Malibu. Fortunately, because the car was designed for these forces, my
daughter pulled her foot out her shoe that was crushed in the floor pan up
under the dashboard and walked away. The County Sheriff was stunned to find
a vehicle so badly mangled, but no one injured or killed. The car made at
least 4 360 degree ratations scattering sheet metal and parts in a field
over 100 yards away from the crash site.

My point should be rather clear, do not assume you are talking to a novice
Chevelle owner when you answer a seemingly simple question. All I wanted
was some experienced advice on how to attach two wires.

Like most of the discussion on this list, it is a total waste of bandwith in
cyber sense, and it would be less frustrating listening to the constant
chatter of persons who have practically no knowledge of classic car
ownership.

To those of you who did respond positively and with some obvious logic and
clear thinking, Kudos to you. I did appreciate the help.

Actually, something was started up, but only
got activity for a few days. It has been a month and not much else has
happened. If people do want to use the modified classifieds board I set up

If nobody uses this, then I'll just leave it

Sorry, it is 12v in run and 9v while turned full forward to start.

The car starts fine however, as good as it does with a lead direct from the
battery to the HEI, and the same as it starts with a lead from the fuse
block to the HEI. I don't think it is a problem, but it was interesting.

I'm not totally sure I understand...are you saying that
the voltage drops from 12V to 9V while the switch is in
 the start position?

I took him to mean it drops to 9V while cranking.

Does it return to 12V in run?

It may be higher if it's running :)

Like I said, after the emails about this
last month, only two cars got added, yours and mine. Mycar listing
expired and it will be renewed if anyone wants to use this. The first day
there were about 80 pageviews of the pages, but it quickly dropped to zero or a
few every day after that, and nobody posted any cars after the first two of
us.

Likely, this will not be popular unless it
is linked to by the lists main site (or others), and I really don't care if this
is the solution or not. But it does 90% of what people asked for and it is
free...

RE: [Chevelle-List] photos
Actually, something was started up, but only got activity for a few days. It has been
a month and not much else has happened. If people do want to use the modified
classifieds board I set up at http://ep.com/js/csp/38046.html let me know and I can
make it so the listings will last 6 months or a year instead of one month. If nobody
uses this, then I'll just leave it alone and not bother to do any modifications

Actually, something like a yahoo club can be setup and they have a lot of room for
pics, and it's easy enough for anyone to use. Just go to, say,
clubs.yahoo.com/chevellelist club and go to the photo album section and post your
photos or what ever files you have (manuals?, screensavers,etc..). The club could be
private, for list members only- but that would take someone to moderate it. Just for
the hell of it, I think I'll do that for the screensaver file, if I can find it :)

Brad I can add a link here:
 http://links.chevelles.net/links/Websites/It would go
right above the garage link. Title would be something like
Chevelle List Members Cars or any variation we came up
with. But, once it is opened to the public, how do we insure
its only for members cars?? Does that matter?? I can put
it most any other place thats appropriate at
 http://links.chevelles.net/links
 rick

We don't really have an owner of the list anymore, do we? It used to
be Mitch, and he could decide what went on the site. Maybe if we had a
Yahoo Group, the link could be from there if we wanted to use it, but I
have seen lots of complaints about Yahoo groups lately. They now throw
a lot of advertising at you. If you read the group from the web site,
they make you click past an ad page first, and they put ads in the email
sent to you as well. Without a real decision maker for the Chevelle
List, this might not go anywhere...
