Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List The 80 TA rotors are 11" very similar (size) to the stock discs. 12" rotors will give better braking. Either way the tall spindles do handle better than stock front suspension. The tall spindles lower the front end by 1" +/- (exactly on my elky) and also will move the front wheels 3/8 inch further out. [Chevelle-List] Air Compressor -type/ability
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I too am looking closely at buying a compressor. I am getting very close to buying and researching for hours at many places on the net to compare. Here are some questions I still have: 1. Oil lubed or oiless ? What are the advantages/disadvantages? 2. 30 Gal 6hp craftsman for $279 or 3. 60 Gal Cast Iron twin cylinder oil lubricated pump for $329 + shipping? 4. Would an oil lubricated pump get oil in the lines? I looked at Sams club, the only decent on there sells for over $800 and can't find it online. Home Depot doesn't have any decent ones online. Lowes has one online that's fairly decent. Anything else I should consider when buying one? [Chevelle-List] Can anyone help me identify a muffler?
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Hi, This isn't Chevelle-related, but I'm hoping that someone can help me identify a part from some other type of older vehicle. Last week when I was cleaning out the attic of my new house, I found a new (unused) muffler and tailpipe and hanger combination (I believe that it has been up there for years, so it can't be for any recent vehicle). It has the ID "8185E" stamped on the muffler and it has a manufacturer's sticker "7031" wrapped around the output port on the muffler. From looking at the hangers and input and output port twists, it looks like the muffler mounts sidewise. I'm thinking Corvair, but does anyone know for sure? [Chevelle-List] Rear antenna location '66
Anybody know what the dimensions for the location of a rear mount antenna hole would be for a '66 coupe. I found some dimensions in one of my manuals but there isn't a reference to something on the vehicle as a starting point. Lance

[Chevelle-List] RE:EMBLEMS
john: yes the Malibu SS quarter panel nameplate is the same one that mounts on the fender of Z16 396 models. it actually looks out of place there. something interesting about the Z16 is 3 exterior emblems to mark a Z16 (trunk lid emblem says Malibu ss 396 / front fender emblems which say Malibu SS / and the 396 turbo-jet emblem that was on the front of the fender too. also exterior wise the trunk lid chrome is way different. there are 3 pieces of trim that are different. these three pieces i have seen sell Hemmings for $8500.00. there is a guy who repos them for $2500.00 and they are very nice. the taillights and trim around them were from the el cheapo 300 deluxe. under the hood was another spot were the z16 can be identified. the air cleaner is a dual snorkel with chrome top and has a 396 metal emblem on it. this emblem repoped sells for over $200.00. Re: [Chevelle-List] 65 paint color
John: the reason is because so many put the 350 in this car. This is just a case of them producing an emblem that has a high demand. I have also seen 383 emblems for this year. Larry (z)

Re: [Chevelle-List] Stock air cleaner for Holley street avenger?
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List You could always get a used open-element base (I see 'em on eBay) and weld it to a stock pan (after removing the stock base, of course). Smooth the welds, paint, and most people will never know... Brad O. > Was a stock snorkel air cleaner built that would fit a Holley Street Avenger > carburetor? RE: [Chevelle-List] 65 paint color
That's another good thing to know. I asked recently why they had the same emblem listed as a front fender emblem as well as a rear quarter emblem, and they told me it was a mistake, and it was for rear quarter only. Now it seems that it is both, depending on whether you got the "regular" SS or the Z16? John Nasta -Original Message- No 350 in 65 malibu. 6 cylinder or 283 or 327 only except 201-396 and they had more ID than the 396 emblem. The rear malibu SS emblem was moved to front fenders. Larry
RE: [Chevelle-List] 65 paint color
Thanks Larry. It wouldn't be the first time that my catalog was wrong. I will call the manufacturer and ask why they list the "350" emblem from 1965 if it wasn't available. John Nasta -Original Message- You may have an emblem but it wasn't available until 67 in the Camaro and I believe 68 in the chevelle. Larry (z)
[Chevelle-List] SBC 350 core for sale (WI)
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Anybody want a Chevy 350 core? It's just taking up space on my patio and I don't see a need for it anytime soon. It was part of a load of engines I bought 3-4 years ago and has just been sitting since then. While I've had it outside it's always been on a wooden pallet and either covered with plastic or taped up. The last time I checked the crank still turned and I shot some oil into the cylinders. IIRC it has the 3487 heads and some crappy iron EGR intake. I'll make my standard offer: take it away (or have me deliver it) with no money down, and after you open it up and inspect it we can agree on a price. I'm located between Stoughton and Edgerton, Wisconsin. Please email me privately at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks!
