'll be a chromed metal clip that the seatbelt looks to fit onto... Almos

RE: [Chevelle-List] car dollies

2002-10-09 Thread 396guy

I towed my son's (then) 69 Camaro on one about a 100 miles
or so - mostly highway. Put the front wheels on the dolly, roped the
steering wheel to the the door, put it in neutral (automatic) and pulled it
home. The place you rent the dolly from should supply instructions.
If not, check out a U-Haul dealer, I know they have a little instruction guide
for theirs. Also, make sure your 64 Impala will fit on the dolly.
U-Haul had a hard time finding one wide enough for the ~older~ car.

Re: [Chevelle-List] Firehouse Doghouse

2002-10-09 Thread WCross9844

Well on a large Fire Truck, the area where you sit behind the driver and
shotgun is called the jump seats'between them is the engine and this
is covered with a cover that is known as the DOGHOUSE.

On older fire trucks, this seating area was partially open to the air, and on
them cold days you would hug the doghouse...nice and warm. Especially the
good old Mack fire trucks

Well if I don't hug my WIFEHOUSE (after 30 yrs) I end up in the
DOGHOUSE, which ain't to bad as our Dobermans (3) take turns riding
in our Chevelle Elky's when we go to a cruise. They think that's
their DOGHOUSE, so if I'm in the DOGHOUSE it's fun ;)

WOW,
Thanks for all the feedback. I chose the dollie for
a few reasons. One, weight savings. Two, lower center of gravity.
Three, my Ranger doesn't have the towing capacity
for the trailer. The Impala has a two piece driveshaft, I can remove the rear
section and keep the front in the trans. II will let you all know how things
went when I return tomorrow. Take it easy.

Make darn sure if you take that drive shaft apart it goes back just as you took it apart. It has been many years (1968) but I remember taking mine (64 impala SS convert) apart and having problems afterwards. mark all parts so it goes back exactly the same.
