The trunk has the emblem SS 396 and the 396 cross flags are
on the front of the fenders. The Malibu SS emblem are also on the front
fenders and not on the rear quarter panels. The trunk trim for the Z16 is also
completely different using a large cast trim and 300 deluxe tail lights
trim. All but 2 cars will have a VIN number somewhat like this.
65-13837 KAN* Two cars were built in Baltimore. All Z16s were
396s (this was the only 375 HP hydraulic lifter 396 ever offered
by Chevrolet) with 4 speeds (even though M-22s were built in
1965 Z16s came with M-20s) and no air conditioning. The rearend was from an
Impala (reworked-no a bolt in), the front A arms and spindles were Oldsmoblie
and 11 inch drum brakes were on the front and back. A dual snorkel air cleaner
(chrome top) with a 396 emblem (cast) was on top of a 750 Holley. The air
cleaner looks almost identical to a 70 1/2 LT1 350-370 Camaro There were
201 Z16s built with one supposedly convertible. Its whereabouts is a mystery.
The most famous z16 was owned by Dan (Hoss) Blocker the actor from Bonanza.
The Z16 wasn't that quick turning a [EMAIL PROTECTED] 99 mph off the showroom
floor. Tires and open exhaust really helped turn it into a screamer. The
Z16 option was just under $1500.00 putting the car at about $4300.00. I
have several pictures of Z16s unrestored and restored including a Z16 drag car
in Nevada. If anyone wants more information or any pictures e-mail me off the
  list.

We carry
them (Original GM) but I dont have one in stock right now. It's the kind of
item that is requested about once a year. Funny that this should come up today
because just yesterday a customer asked if the same part would fit his Buick. It's
highly likely, but I dont have a crossover reference for it.

I just
received a catalog from a supplier of truck parts, and they have lots of
antennas for Chevy trucks going back to the 40s. Pretty cool.

The rear
antennas for the Chevelles do seem to be non-existent, but you never know.

[Chevelle-list] Body Cart

2003-10-17 Thread Matthew Post
I'm looking to pull the body off the frame on my '69 in the coming
months. I was thinking that the easiest and safest way for me to have the
body in my garage would be on a body cart. It would make it easy to move
the body around the garage and maybe transport the body on it. There's a
company called accessible systems that I found on Team Chevelle that sells
these and other cool stuff. Here's the
link: http://www.accessiblesystems.com/

The only problem is they are in Tennessee and I'm in California making
freight pretty expensive. Anyone know where to find one on the west
coast. Any other options or opinions (other than making one, since I can't
weld to save my life).

Thanks.

Once you get past the Fisher-Price interface of XP, it's not that
different from W2K, really. I have two each at home and at work we're
split about 50/50 as well. Except for some very OS specific custom
software (and some MS utilities), they run about the same. Did you use
the home or Pro version? I haven't used the home version of either but
I know you can make XP Pro look like W2K as far as the interface goes.

I'd bet if you took a picture like this to a competent welding shop,
they could build you one. A quick search on body cart didn't turn up
much but maybe other mfgs use a different term. I'd also check with
local body shops that might specialize in frame-off restorations to see
what they might recommend. Gotta be more than a few in California!

There are lots of things, but the best change you could ever make is
shocks.

You can get new bushings. Rubber is OK if yours are old will improve
handling and feel. If you already have good rubber bushings, you can
change to polyurethane which will tighten things up. Opinions vary.
Some people think that the poly bushings are too harsh and noisy. I
like them. You can mix and match, by replacing the sway bar hardware
with poly and keeping the rest rubber for comfort.

You could buy new seats with nice, firm padding and good side bolsters.

You could upgrade your tires to larger wheels (~17x8) and use modern,
low profile rubber like a 275/40/17 tire.

You could upgrade your steering to a higher effort faster ratio box for
better road feel.

Probably some other things...
