I've bought a ton of stuff off Ebay and I'd say 90% of them are always last
second bids. Sometimes I might jump in there real cheap just to see if I can
find the reserve, but not that often.

Fred, you are right. Minimizing what you pay given the Ebay proxy bidding
processes, is best accomplished with last second bidding or sniping. The
only exception to this strategy is if someone under prices an item and the
"buy it now" is a real bargain, then you snap it up before the minimal
bidding takes this option away. My 2cents.

I
have one XP Pro, one W2K Pro, and a W2K server...never have any problems with
any of them.  Split almost 50/50 at work between XP Pro and W2K Pro (over

some PCs so we removed it.

In
IE6, try Tools > Options > Advanced and make wure the Microsoft VM box is
checked for "JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled" - the first two on mine
are NOT checked.  We've found when Java defaults to its Java, MS doesn't
play well.

did you try disabling your Anti Virus software? (if applicable) Also, if you
have a personal Firewall, try shutting it down temporarily as well. Finally, if
you have a popup blocker, it could be the culprit too. I've run into simmilar

What version of windows are you using?  any chance you
have Sun's version of Java on your system? If so, unload it and try again.
(Sun's Java and Microsoft sometimes don't play well with one another)

Another thing to try, if you don't have free program called Ad
Aware on your system ...I suggest you put it on and run a scan. I'll bet
you are surprised at what it comes up with. Earthlink users have a free
options as well that works pretty well. I use both and one finds things
the other doesn't. These mini "spyware" programs are put on without you
knowing it, and you don't know what they might be interfering with on your
  system.

Unload any unused programs. Especially ones you have no idea what
they are. Go into the control panel and in the "add remove programs"
unload anything you don't know what it is .except the patches at the
bottom from Microsoft ..leave those in there.

That was a lot of patches to download. You did re-boot
  right?

Clint, I am guessing that's not your problem, but to deleted
your cache, if you are using Internet Explorer, click on TOOLS
then INTERNET OPTIONS then look for the "Temporary Internet Files"
section. Click the "delete files" button.

If that don't fix your problem, click on START then look for
"Windows Update" on the left column somewhere. If it's not there,
click on All Programs then look for Windows Upd

I have heard good things about this product from fellow chevelle owners. I never have installed one but from the illustrated instructions they sure make it look easy.

Contact the web admins for that site. Find out what all they did during
the upgrade and what all technologies they are using on the web site. They could
be using several different programs at once. If your "player" of that technology
is an older version you probably need to upgrade. They also may have programmed
in some sort of problem for some people, and they may be working with others and
have a "fix" for people with problems.

Make a
note of EXACT wording on any error messages that come up and go to www.microsoft.com/technet and do a
search for key words in that error.

What
version of Windows are you using? If you are using Windows 98, while better than
systems before, it still had a lot of "locking up" problems. I wouldn't use
anything less than Windows 2000 or XP anymore. If you are using Windows 95,
throw the whole unit out the window and go buy an HDTV ;)

I've deleted all temp files and cookies. I've run
SpyBot. Deleted all kinds of programs. Booted and re-booted. I'm using IE6.1
which worked fine until the site admins tried upgrading the site. Now,all I
can do is open the Home page. Anything else and my computer locks
  up.

If that don't fix your problem, click on START then look for

anything you see that are critical updates ( note: some will only let
you download the one item at a time, others will let you download other
files with them) Also, download anything in the drivers section, and
anything in the middle section that you think you might need. Some of
them you would never need. Since most chat rooms are java based, I
highly recommend you download anything saying
"java".

That's a place to start anyway. If that don't do it, check any
personal firewall settings, and also check the Security settings very
near where you found the temporary files you deleted. It's a separate
tab labeled security. Check the java sections, or bring it down a notch
and see if that works.

I
haven't had any experience with them myself. I sent my stock original tilt
column to Snake River in Idaho for a rebuild. As far as I know they did a pretty
good job. Even have chrome and other "dress-up" options. Also, Flaming River in
Ohio has some nice stainless columns: http://www.flamingriver.com/s-tilt.htm

I use spybot as well and it's free; one of my favorite four letter words!
You can get it here

I use SpyBot Search and Destroy.  It finds spyware that AdAware does not, and has online updates that are available for download.  It is shareware and you can download it from CNET or one of the other mirror sites.  HTH.
