RE: [Chevelle-list] Hurst shifter install / 67 Chevelle M20
Hurst has full documentation on there site for shifter they sell. The plate you have looks very different then any I have seen, though my experience is mostly with their Comp Plus shifters. The only problem I've seen from different years is more in the rods. I had a shifter from a '69 and had major problems with it binding up until I bought one for my application. However, when the M20 is mounted up - having quite a hard time to get the mounting plate in with the current tunnel hole. Do I have to cut the tunnel out more? I tried to find documentation out there, not finding anything really that is what I am going after. Even though my SS came with a console, I will not be installing one back in there. Has anyone ran into this before? Could it be that the shifter I have is not right for a Chevelle? Re: [Chevelle-list] points to HEI dist.
Drop it in the same location you take the old one out, have the cap off to set the rotor in the correct position. You will need to undo the engine harness and remove the ballast wires from the harness and fuse block and replace it with at least a 12 gauge wire to put power to the HEI. YOu will also need to remove the wires that go to the INSIDE (towards the engine) side of the starter solenoid as they are no longer needed. The firing order is the same on the HEI cap so make sure your plug wires are in the same location. Timing gets set the same and you are ready to go. Tom

Hey guys, was wondering what would be necessary to swap points type dist. to HEI. I have a new HEI that I never installed in the intended motor, would like to put it in '71 Malibu. I know how to install and set the timing, but other than the hot wire to the new unit, what else would be needed? Thanks, you all have been a great help to me. Brian '71 Malibu _ Is your PC infected? Scott...just had to chuckle at your last sentence above. I know exactly how you feel! I'm 57 as well and I still tackle a few projects but find after bending over a fender or doing something up under the dash for a few hours, I sure feel it the next day. I tend to farm out more and more 'projects' that I wouldn't have thought of doing 30 years ago. Funny how the body doesn't flex as much as it used to. Dale You guys have been in the office too much. :-) I'm out here every day under hoods and dashes working to keep the customers' rides on the road. I'm 52, I ache every evening and just gripe about it & go on. I will admit that the Advil bottle empties out a little faster than it used to. I really need to get a life outside of cars--work on them all day & then mess with the Chevelle on my time off. Any of ya'll have any interesting, low impact hobbies besides your cars? BL

RE: [Chevelle-list] 1968-72 door hinges
I was thinking I'd offer $20 off on the set of four. A customer ordered them and then didn't pick them up. My choice is to either to pay for the shipping here and back, or give somebody a discount (or keep them in inventory for who knows how long). It would be better for everybody to give somebody a discount. Re: [Chevelle-list] Searching for high output Air Conditioningblowersystem
Thanks to Clint and Trooper. The thought of doing a Texas summer without a blow your hat off air conditioning ain't a good thought. When I was in my 20's it was ok at 57, I pass. Crawled in the trunk on Sunday to start to put in a new amp .took a long time to get in and longer to get out. Invented some new words. Now the velle is at the car audio shop...getting a new amp...and I am in a comfortable chair at the office trying to figure out why I am still sore. I appreciate your help and will track down the leads. The air works great with a new compressor but just needs to huff a little ( actually a lot ) faster. Hope I can return the favor Best regards to the listers Scott '68 (cloned up) SS 408 Dallas Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] Searching for high output Air Conditioningblowersystem > Hi,Scott.
