Heater core is shot. They are fun to change :-). Tom
[Chevelle-list] heat = smoke (69 El Camino)
Seems that when I move my top heat lever to the left (from cold to hot) smoke comes out of the vents. It doesn't smell like burning plastic (i.e. electrical). In fact it doesn't seem to smell at all, but there is definitely smoke. Move the lever back to the cold position and it stops. Blower is off when this happens. It's just the air ebing forced through the vent as I drive. Do you suppose it's a bad heater core? Thanks, John Nasta

RE: [Chevelle-list] garage therapy, was: 1969 Chevelle SS for sale
I'll agree. I got home from work last night, did some work on the computer, made some dinner, and sat down on the couch to eat/watch TV. After flipping channels for an hour, I turned off the TV in disgust and went out to the garage. It was 9pm and un-seasonably warm. I had the overhead door open while I cleaned and re-jetted my Holley (going to the strip on Sunday), started installing the wiring for my EFI, and took the Corvette out for quick spin around the block after recently getting it drivable again. I ended up being out there till midnight, and would've easily stayed out there another hour or two if I didn't have to work in the morning. -Dave -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Bob G Sent: Friday, October 15, 2004 10:17 AM To: The Chevelle Mailing List; The Chevelle Mailing List Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] 1969 Chevelle SS for sale At 08:33 AM 10/15/2004, Wayne wrote: >One added note.. The wife kind of put her foot down and I picked up an old Corvette and spent the next three years redoing (not restoring) it in the garage after work...an hour here an hour there etc... Well when it was finished I was not about to sell it so I bought another car and repeated the process... and still am repeating the process I have been retired since 1998 and "My" garage has become 2 garages...and both have been remodeled (enlarged) and now I work on and "play" with my 5 Corvettes and the Chevelle whenever the mood strikes me. All my cars are now complete and on the street..(none are 100 percent as usual) and I am looking for another project car (hopefully not my last) to fill the last available bay in the one garage. But looking back. Those hours I have spent in the garage sure beat sitting at a bar, or going bowling etc...and the trips I have taken with those cars allowed my wife and me to make tons of new friends from almost every walk of life I am now thinking of relocating to a State with LOW taxes, warm weather, cheap utilities etc and buying a small "A" frame home WITH AN ATTACHED 7 CAR GARAGE... Yep Smiles per mile and 1000's of hours of relaxation... worked for me... Bob Griffiths .
