[Chevelle-list] fisher body guild
Hi Not totally on the chevelle topic, but I thought I would share it anyway. A friend of mine was clearing out the contents of an outbuilding that was slated for demolition, may have found a relic. Over in a corner covered in debris was a wooden box measuring about 1.5 ft x2.5 ft. Upon opening the box,an intricately carved stage coach with plans, two train tickets to the Chicago Worlds fair and a key to the city was found. From the smallamountof research done so far anda Museum does exist but it's private and somewhat exclusive. Does anybody know anything about this Randy 1968 SS El Camino

Re: [Chevelle-list] dash strip
Thanks for the advise Rocky The dash strip turned out great with Rust oleum stone creations black, with 60% gloss black paint over that. Hinshaws has them for $99.00. www.hinshawschevelle.com or 336-586-0802 it seems by the trouble your having, by the time you get it finished you will have more than that in material and labor. And yes I do count my labor as a cost factor. Rocky = A Man And His Chevelle, It's A Beautiful Thing!! [Chevelle-list] Magazines
I'm starting to get more into auto restoration with the purchase of my '66 El Camino, and I find the "how-to" articles in the Aces magazine, Car Crafters, etc, pretty helpful (along with all the help on this list). I also enjoy Hemmings Muscle Cars. My question is, what magazines do you subscribe to to keep up with this hobby? For instance, I just found anarticle in Hot Rod that compared all the Edelbrock intake manifolds that was interesting, but I'm not sure I want a full subscription. What's worthwhile to get every month? Tom Tomlinson '71 Malibu '66 El Camino
RE: [Chevelle-list] Magazines
Hi Tom, I guess you cancall me a magazine junkie - I subscribe to just about all of them! My reasoning is simple. A subscription is so cheap, it doesn't make sense to buy them at the newstand when a single issue costs $3.99 or morecompared to a typical subscription cost of $9.99 to $15.99 or so. For about $100 a year I get Hot Rod, Car Craft, Chevy High Performance, Super Chevy, Popular Hot Rodding,Sport Bike, and Chevelle World, which by the way is the most expensive one of the bunch. Re: [Chevelle-list] Magazines
I get Chevelle World (ACES) for the specific content and Popular Hot Rodding for the more general articles. I also get severalother interest / hobby magazines. I dropped Hot Rod a couple of years ago after subscribing since the '60's. I got tired of their continual smart aleck responses to subscribers who wrote in with suggestions. They seemed to have the attitude that they knew everything there was to know about cars, and if you were from someplace other than S. California and had another opinion, you were just some hick from Hooterville. Then I got really ticked when they decided I had a delinquent account when I didn't renew, and turned it over to a collection agency! A few copies of letters I had sent Hot Rod got me off the hook, but I will never buy another copy. Last week we puta friend's'67 SS our two '66 SS's under car covers out in my garage for the winter. There's some ice on our lake every morning now. I guess the magazines will have to hold me till Spring! Re: [Chevelle-list] Magazines
Tom Over the years I've subscribed to most of the popular magazines. But now I'm down to Hemmings Muscle Cars and AutoRestorer. I'd subscribe to more, but I'm a packrat, save them all, and don't have room. I really enjoy the variety of coverage in Hemmings.AutoRestorer is a bit of an odd ball in that it covers anything from a Brass Era Classic to late model vehicles. Lots of How to's. I've seen two or three recent issues of Hot Rod and have enjoyed reading them again. The latest issue covered the Bonneville Salt Flats meet. I can remember reading the same coverage in my mid 60's issues. Brought back memories. Anyway to answer your question I'd continue to subscribe to a couple that really interest you and buy others over the counter. Re: [Chevelle-list] Magazines
I used to get Popular Hot Rodding, Hot Rod, and Super Chevy. now, I just pretty much only have a subscription to Super Chevy although the Hot Rod mags still come in for whatever reason.I find this odd since I have not renewed with them. Tom
