RE: [Chevelle-list] mice
I run a large ag chemical and seed facility, and we do have mice and rats from time to time. Moth balls help, but are not perfect by themselves. We have tried peanut butter, but apparently we have discerning mice. Juicy fruit gum on a trap works from time to time, but the best to date have been the sticky or glue traps laid around the perimeter of the warehouse..again not perfect, but the best thing we have found to date! Kent, I sent a carb to them about 15 years ago, maybe more or less. It was the factory Quadrajet off of my 1968 427/390 Corvette. The fuel inlet was stripped, so they helicoiled it. The drilled out the factory bushing and installed brass. The carb was suppose to have been flowed tested. When I installed it, it ran perfect. No problems. Then I let the car sit. Now it's back in a box. But other than that, I did not have any problems. I understand that Holley does the same thing at their facility in Bowling Green Ky. You decide. Holley has a warehouse of just bins of Carb parts that they use to rebuild carbs. Terry S. I have used the Holley repair center many times and always have been satisfied. They do all brands and rebuilt a Qjet for me that's on my 65 Malibu that works real well. On the other hand, I used Daytona Parts to restore my tri power setup on my Tempest and they sent back good looking carbs but the center carb came back with shim stock wrapped around the throttle shaft to fix it. They were supposed to have rebushed all throttle shafts. Needless to say that is the last dollar ($600.) they will get from me. We live and learn. Re: [Chevelle-list] carb shop - recommendations ?
Thanks for the responses guys. Andre - Have heard of Bo Laws, but I don't have a race car or high RPM engine. Just a stock 502, with a 5800 rpm redline, Holley 850 vac sec. Terry - 15 years ago the original owner of the Carburetor Shop was still alive. Would feel more comfortable if he was actual doing the work on my carb. :( Greg - Thanks for the help, but I know even less about those shops. Mike - Thanks for the tip about the Holley restoration service. I'll contact them to see if they can do the modifications I'm wanting. From the factory, the Holley 850 vacuum secondary carburetor that was included with the GM crate engine, has an intermittent vacuum leak at the throttle shaft. Apparently, the primary throttle shaft does not have the white Teflon bushings installed. Although the grooves are machined into the throttle shaft, they do not install the bushings. Instead, relying on a close fit between the throttle shaft and the base plate of the carb. My idea of modifications to this carb include : * installing throttle shaft bushings on the primary side *4 corner idle circuit *modify flow boosters Kent '68 Malibu ZZ502/502 ACES #5102 - Original Message - From: André-Tigergutt [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 'The Chevelle Mailing List' Chevelle-list@chevelles.net Sent: Thursday, March 10, 2005 2:47 PM Subject: RE: [Chevelle-list] carb shop - recommendations ?
