Re: [Chevelle-list] What cylinder head to use
Hans, Looks like you have a pretty good build going. The Vortec heads work pretty well out of the box. In a blown application I would upgrade the valve springs..or at least the intake springs. I was running around 10lbs with my ATI Procharger. With a stock 350hp/396 I ran high tens. With a better 454 I ran 10.33/132 in my 70 Chevelle. Pump gas friendly combo. The blower will amaze you. As far as fuel system you will need a good one. I have an SX pump(similar to aeromotive 1000). If you really want to buy it once and forget it a magna 500 will work. http://www.personal.kent.edu/~wbainey/CHEVELLE.htm Walt - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Wednesday, March 30, 2005 10:56 pm Subject: [Chevelle-list] What cylinder head to use Hi all I have been lurking in the background, and due to house selling, getting green card and laziness I have not done very much to my Camino. Well, the motivation has increased specially as I have got some money to complete the engine, and here I very much would like to get your feedback. My basic idea is to use a Vortech supercharger with a Holley or a Demon and go for 11 PSI. . The bottom part is already done, 4-bolt mains, 362 cu, Eagle crankshaft, rods and CP pistons and with 64 cc head the compression rate will be just below 8. The camshaft is 234 int./244 exh, lift .488 and .510 lobe separation 114 degrees The heads I consider to buy are Vortec 25534421 or 25534431, the main (only?) difference between the heads are the volume of the intake and exhaust ports. They are significant bigger on the 31 head. Going with an overloaded motor, is there any advantage of bigger ports, or is there no significant difference? Any other heads you think I should consider? Price for the heads for gmpartdepot is 478 and 525 USD per piece Anybody with experience from the Vortec supercharger? Any other brand you recommend? Fuel pump will be my next consideration, not sure how to calculate the volume needed, but pressure must be above 35 PSI. Hans The way I see it, a car isn´t just a way to get from point A to point B... The car IS the point Jesse James

[Chevelle-list] Ebay 1968 1/2 SS?
Never seen this before - seller claiming a 1968 1/2 SS, I know there have been some 1/2 year cars, but never seen a Chevelle this way. VIN of 136378B102487 tells me it's an early 1968, from the low production and a regular Malibu (not an SS) from the 136 - assembled in Baltimore - 1968. Car for sale has '69 tail lights. Anybody have any insight on the claims being made is this auction? Either this seller is misled or I will learn something new. RE: [Chevelle-list] door lock has a mind of its own
If you push down the lock button on my 70 and shut the door the door unlocks also. You have to push down the lock button and depress the door handle button as you shut the door to have it lock. Or you can shut the door and lock it with the key. Is this what you are talking about? RE: [Chevelle-list] Ebay 1968 1/2 SS?
68 VIN but 69 taillights, quarters, fenders, SS emblems... It either really is a rare car or it's a 68 that was redone w/ 69 panels, or maybe it's a stolen recovery that was completely trashed or a junkyard rustbucket that's been completely rebuilt and retagged... RE: [Chevelle-list] ISC Racers Tape
Thanks Larry, I think for a new car I would definitely look into this product. I dont think I want to adhere anything to the new paint job I am having done on my 70. I am looking for something like the bras you see on a lot of cars that you can put on and take off easily for travel to and from shows, cruises, or road trips to protect the paint from road debris that might chip the new paint. Even that I would only leave on during the travel time, and not leave on for any longer time period. I think I may end up having to going to a shop that does custom interiors, or perhaps does work on boats, and have one made to fit the car. Does anyone in the Chicago area know of any specialty shops that do this type of work? Thanks though I appreciate the input, and have filed the web sight for future use. I guess that means they are 69 doors too. I wish we could see the grill. Dec 04 was not *that* long ago, but he should have more pictures if he wants to sell it over the internet. John Nasta -Original Message- Where's the wing window?

Re: [Chevelle-list] OT: tankless water heater
Mike, I work for a heating and air company and just completed certification on instant water heaters (tankless). Up front they are pretty expensive but most of them run efficiantly. A normal water heater if left alone and no water used, the water inside will eventually start to cool of and the heater will kick on and warm it back up. With a tankless, there is no water to cool off so over a long period of time it will run less and most of them if you get the right size will never run out of hot water. A lot of people get them and put them in cabins or weekend homes. Hope this helps Ryan
Re: [Chevelle-list] door lock has a mind of its own
yes, i can lock it with the key once the door is shut. I didnt realize that the doors "unlocking" themselves was normal. Live and learn Ryan

Re: [Chevelle-list] ISC Racers Tape
Chuck: you are very welcome. Actually You may want to look into this product. It is barely noticeable . Today I went and looked at some applications. I did look at new car applications but the owner told me many come in after a new paint job and have it put on. After having bras on 3 cars I have made the decision that bras cause more damage to cars than rock chips .Paintfade and paint rubbing off are common problems. This product will not fade the paint. I have made the decision to try this product on her car and in the future I may try it on the Chevelle. Larry (Z)
Re: [Chevelle-list] Ebay 1968 1/2 SS?
First Digit: Identifies the Chevrolet division (1 = Chevrolet) Next Four Digits: Identify the model number Model: Chevelle , Malibu (Code 3000) /13637 was a V8 2-Dr sport coupe. 13837 was anSS 396 2-Dr sport coupe. sixth Digit: 8 = 1968 Seventh Digit: Identifies the assembly plant: B= Baltimore ,Maryland Last Six Digits: Represent the basic production numbers starting number 11 /up . Itwas the 2487 car off the line. With 62785 cars built (Chevelles) I doubt if it was a late model production car but who knows how many cars were built that year @ Baltimore .It would be nice to see the Body number plate (trim tag) or the engine code she says that has been verified. Maybe someone should ask her for that code. For 1969 it would be a JK, CJK, JE, CJE, KF, CKF, KH OR CKH WITH TURBO HYDRA-MATIC AUTOMATIC. I doubt if this car is that rare. Were the heads painted aluminum to make us think this is a rare KH (396)or CKH (402) aluminum head (L89) car ? Larry (Z)
