Ahhh ok that DID work with some nice spark (I suppose that's normal). S that would mean the solenoid is toast? Should I just replace both since I have them out? TH350 transmissions are easy to come by. I don't know for sure, but I was told as long as you get the proper nose cone, you can use the same driveshaft. [Chevelle-list] Bench Testing a Starter
I tried bench testing the starter out of my 69 and got nothing, wanted to see if you all think I did it right. There are three terminals, hooked the positive side of the battery up to the big one in the middle. Hooked the negative side to the frame of the starter. Then with my tester, to watch voltage, I put one end on the big terminal and one end on one of the smaller terminals. Zip. Did it again with the other terminal, zip. I know it was getting juice because I got voltage readings on that first smaller terminal. Sound like the starter is fried? Thanks, JB

It's shorter if you are comparing it to a 68-72 unit,Hans. Re: [Chevelle-list] Tires
A side note to your side note: Futura tires are made by Lee, a division of Goodyear. I ran a set of 70 series performance tires ( I forget what model ) on my '91 Caprice and got excellent service out of them. If memory serves, I put about 90 K on them with mostly highway driving. I'm running Futura Dakota LT truck tires on the '67 GMC with good service as well. I was never able to get any traction with them when I had them on my 86 Cutlass. I've been running the Firestone Firehawk series on my 70 SS and am happy with them, they hook pretty well behind a healthy 454. Also on a side note, I have the Pep Boys special, Futura GLS Super Sport on my 86 Cutlass now as well as my 69 and they seem to do pretty well. Tom
[Chevelle-list] Alternators
I have anew harness from M&H that they modified for an internal regulator. I am wondering what alternator people use that have done this conversion. Thanks, Jim Buckingham
