not all the time---if your car has a map sensor that controls mixtures---i had a bad one once and replaced it with new and car was no better --long story short the map sensor was boxed wrong-belonged in a diff. state and was for high elevations. - Original Message - From: Dale [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; 'The Chevelle Mailing List' Chevelle-list@chevelles.net Sent: Thursday, May 26, 2005 12:16 AM Subject: RE: [Chevelle-list] mountain passes He's probably referring to the thinner air meaning a leaner fuel mixture. RE: [Chevelle-list] mountain passes
If the carb has adjustable air/fuel screws, you might be able to help a little bit but many early 70s cars had caps over the adjustment screws if memory serves. Maybe a lighter car like a Chevelle wouldn't have as much problem as the 73 Buick (Electra 225) I drove to Cloudcroft. It was a real boat. You loose 3% horsepowerper 1000 ft elevation. (Rule of thumb) You will still get over the summits but not as fast. Don't want to go fast anyway. [Chevelle-list] Paint stripping! (Chemical Q)
I've found a very good way to remove paint from small iron/steel parts and I want to know if it might hurt the parts? I just soak them in a strong Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda) solution for a few hours and then rinse them carefully then dry them with a heat gun. Does this hurt the parts? It seemes as if some sort of protective layer is created during the process? [Chevelle-list] 70 chevelle rh windlace

[Chevelle-list] 1968 on EBAY
It ain't for show but the person that was interested in how I mounted the amp and EQT's in my '68, it's on ebaymotors at item number 4551565286 You might also be able to see the tweeter location for the fron Focals. No fancy mounting in this car but they throw a nice image and that's what it's about. The 6.5 Focals really need to be clipped at 80 or so with the under 80 going to subs ( go JL Audio unless ya wanna dump a ton on Focal subs). No rear fill speakers..just let volume set the rear fill effect - just like in a concert. Get power to go over the sound of the motor and pipes. Don't mess with center channels. They were a headache in the 90's and still would be. Get a lot of GOOD CLEAN power, aim the speakers for good stage, cut off with good sloping for your system and rock on. By the way, someone will get a great deal on the '68. I put 22K in it last year in about 5 months after I bought it for a lot last April. Still cheaper than my ex wife...and more fun as well. RE: [Chevelle-list] 4 Speed Fill Bolt/Plug
HI All, I have a muncie 4 speed in my 69 chevelle. I want to verify that the fluid level is at the proper height. I went tonight to take off the cover for the fill hole. I can't figure out if it's a press in plug or a bolt in. The cover looks similar to a nut but with a stem on it. Neither fits a bolt and with a vise grip using moderate pressure it didn't move. Can someone tell me how to get this bolt/plug off? thanks Thomas
