On my rad, that left side pan is bent up. I guess you do have a
problem :-) Can you put a slot in it and lower the bracket into the
slot? How far from the rad does it stick out?

Ok! Then the radiator is OK!

But I just can't figure out how to use these little clips because the
angels
between the metal on the radiator and the fan shroud are wrong, as
far as i can see?

There are little clips for mounting the fan shroud. Cushions on the core
support and in the top plate hold the radiator in place.

How do I attach the fan shroud to the radiator?
And how do I attach the radiator to the radiator core support?
Is it just crammed between the bottom of the radiator core support and
the
heat protection at the top?

He's probably referring to the thinner air meaning a leaner fuel mixture.
Depending on your local altitude, the difference can be significant.
Years
ago I drove a 73 Buick over Cloudcroft, NM at an altitude of 9000 feet
which

is about 8000 feet above my home's altitude. Car wheezed and coughed like
it wasn't going to make it to the top and it barely did. Made the same
drive a year or so ago in a 2004 Mercury Sable with modern fuel injection
and had no problems whatsoever as the computer controls compensated for
the

altitude.

If the carb has adjustable air/fuel screws, you might be able to help a
little bit but many early 70s cars had caps over the adjustment screws if
memory serves. Maybe a lighter car like a Chevelle wouldn't have as much
problem as the 73 Buick (Electra 225) I drove to Cloudcroft. It was a real
boat. LOL

Aaaah so. OK, now here's a real dumb question: is there an easy
carburetor adjustment to richen the fuel mixture just short of
taking on some high altitudes, or do you have to do a whole lot of
related stuff?

You loose 3% horsepowerper 1000 ft elevation. (Rule of thumb) You will still get over the summits but not as fast. Don't want to go fast anyway.

I just soak them in a strong Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda) solution for a

Does this hurt the parts?
It seemes as if some sort of protective layer is created during the process?

It ain't for show but the person that was interested in how I mounted the
amp and EQT's in my '68, it's on ebaymotors at

item number 4551565286

You might also be able to see the tweeter location for the fron Focals. No
fancy mounting in this car but they throw a nice image and that's what it's
about. The 6.5 Focals really need to be clipped at 80 or so with the under
80 going to subs ( go JL Audio unless ya wanna dump a ton on Focal subs).
No rear fill speakers..just let volume set the rear fill effect - just like
in a concert. Get power to go over the sound of the motor and pipes. Don't
mess with center channels. They were a headache in the 90's and still would
be. Get a lot of GOOD CLEAN power, aim the speakers for good stage, cut off
with good sloping for your system and rock on.

By the way, someone will get a great deal on the '68. I put 22K in it last
year in about 5 months after I bought it for a lot last April. Still
cheaper than my ex wife...and more fun as well.
