I checked Auto Meters web sight and they
do show two different ones a single and a double gauge style. They do not
however show a picture of them. Email me off line and I will scan the
page out of their catalog and send it to you or if you have time just order one
of their catalogs. The catalog I am referencing is a 2001 printing and
they may have added or subtracted items since then. They call them Gauge
Pods and are for Chevelle, GTO, Lemans 68-72. .

They do show triple pods but they are for
full size newer Chevys and Rice Burners.

Hope this helps.

I'M NOT SURE THAT por15 WOULD BE THE BEST answer for new clean metal. As I recall it adhears best to a slightly rusted surface. There may be a prep available to age the metal though. Also read carefully the prep instructions health warnings at
www.por15.com . Its good stuff but can be dangerous. I used it also am happy with the result.

[Chevelle-list] E-brake cable retainer clip needed

2005-09-23 Thread John Nasta
Another small part that I need is one of the retainers that hold the
intermediate e-brake cable to the rear cables. There is a picture of one
here:

http://johnnasta.com/IMG_0002.JPG

If anybody can spare one from a parts car, please let me know. This would be
in front of where the rear lower control arm attaches to the frame. I
ordered a new intermediate cable but can't hook it up without this little
clip.

Thank you,

I have a 1966 Malibu with a 1970 350. It has the long
water pump. I want to mount the alternator on the
drivers side like it came. Does anyone know what
brackets I could use? I know I can buy after market
billet but I want it to look factory. I also know I
could use a short water pump but then I would have to
buy all new pulleys and power steering brackets. I
don't want to do that. I can't mount it on the right
because that's where my air mounts. Can anyone help.
Someone must have had this same problem. How did you
 solve it?

[Chevelle-list] equalizer support cable also needed

2005-09-23 Thread John Nasta
Upon further investigation of the service manual, I see that there is
supposed to be a equalizer support cable on the right side to pull the
E-brake cable across the transmission mount area. I don't have this part
either, which explains why there was so much slack in my intermediate cable
(aside from it being kind of chewed up). So, if anybody out there thinks
they have that clip, please see if you have this cable as well. Otherwise
it's time for me to start calling my favorite junkyards.

Thanks,
John Nasta

RE: [Chevelle-list] E-brake cable retainer clip needed

2005-09-23 Thread John Usher
Sorry, John I do not have the clip you need, but I do have a brand new
intermediate cable (from Year 1) that I do not need and would like to
sell $16 plus actual shipping cost. It is designed for 68-72 models with
TH-400 according to Year 1 website (part number 5190N).

The Year 1 catalog said I needed two and I had two on my car, but the
new cable is designed such that it loops through the equalizer to feed
both back e-brakes.

According to the 1968 service manual the intermediate cable always went
through the equalizer and then to both back wheels. I would be happy to take
the cable off your hands but I already ordered one locally and it is
supposed to be in tomorrow. I also have a TH350.

RE: [Chevelle-list] E-brake intermediate cable

2005-09-23 Thread John Nasta
A question has come up about the intermediate cable. My car came w/ a
powerglide, but I changed it to a TH350. Delco lists these:

INTERMED BRAKE CABLE
TURBOHYDRAMATIC

INTERMED BRAKE CABLE
3 SPD HEAVY DUTY OR 4 SPD

INTERMED BRAKE CABLE
3 SPD EXC HEAVY DUTY

and Wagner lists these:

INTERMED BRAKE CABLE
TH400 TRANS 2DR

INTERMED BRAKE CABLE
TH400 TRANS - MALIBU SS

INTERMED BRAKE CABLE
EXC TH400 TRANS 4DR

Which one would you say I need? A TH350 is a three speed, but when they are
saying 3-spd heavy duty or not, are they referring to manual transmissions?
There was no 4-speed automatic at that time. On the Wagner listings, it
seems like it could only be the third one, except that an El Camino is on a
station wagon frame, and that one doesn't seem to fit 4-door cars. I'm
actually surprised that it makes a difference. It's not like there's such a
shortage of space under there for a cable.

You can top coat it. There is a specific procedure to follow. For specifics on the proceduresee the POR web site www.por15.com . But as I recall, you coat it, let it cure for a while, then before it cures hard ( still slightly tacky) apply the top coat.
