Re: [Chevelle-list] '67 Tail Lights
I'm not sure if you could put other year tail lights on, but you might be able to sand and paint the housing, or maybe break off the chrome strips? You could skip the chrome strip on the end of the trunk, and shave off the tabs, but then I think you might end up with this not matching the tail light housing. You could go to the extreme and make the tail end look like a '66 by using the '66 tail light housing... All my coating work is done by Performance Coatings of Oklahoma City. They normally charge me around $125-150 to coat my headers and their work is first class. Customer service is outstanding, too. I've found several complaints about their headers cracking where the primaries come out of the flange, and the alarming part is cases after case, these people are saying they got the cold shoulder from Sanderson. Not one received satisfaction. Of course I found many recommendations, including yours, but I read enough negative stories that I'll consider others first. It's a shame. They seem to have good products, but service after the sale is an important consideration. Ron... I bought a Wolf brand cover a couple of years ago and it is working well for me. Excellent fit and has a cable lock. Think it was about $200. Lots of them out there be sure to get one that suit your needs for outdoor storage. Jerry Wells ACES 5923

Sounds excellent! The aceton is a pain to work with, feel like a doehead after 10 min in the obnoxious fumes, cant use it! Dry ice sounds perfect! I thought i'd chime in on this one.i've removed quite a bit of sound deadening material from the floorboards before and found this trick to work quite AWESOME!!! Try to find a place that sells dry ice in pellet form. Wear gloves and scatter the dry iceon the floorboard. The rebber like material will get brittle.very brittle. Then you can take a pick hammer and break the material into small pieces, then use your putty knofe a pop it all up. Then throw away all of the gargage. If you don't get all of the dry ice up..no biggie, it just turns to vapor...well mabe a little water, but clean up is a snap. Hope you all benefit from this one like i have. RE: [Chevelle-list] to cover or not to cover
I bought a covercraft custom made cover for my 1966 chevelle. The one I bought was for rain and snow I live in Michigan. I like it a lot, the only bad thing is that it is thin. But you wash it, did good job when I parked it outside during summer months!!! Wear good gloves too. Acetone can be absorbed through the skin and attacks the nervous system (that explains a thing or two about women if you think about it). Re: [Chevelle-list] question about 63 Tempest
Brad, Thanks for noticing the photo and little blurb in the current HPP. I doubt my car would do too well in a POCI national. Way too modified, driven almost daily, and not really national material. My car will be featured in the March 06 HPP. According to Editor Tom DeMaura that issue hits the news stands in Mid Dec. Like most of the folks on this list, I do shows to meet people with the same affliction and to see what they have built. When you luck into a little recognition it's icing on the cake. Herb and I are heading over to the Goodguys in Charlotte this coming weekend. If any of you guys are going please look us up. Anyone know why? I think they made the right decision to go with a conventional rear suspension shared with other BOP&C products but no one knows the details. The '61-63 Tempest was a unibody and used the rear transaxle. There were a few minor problems with it (body flex, driveshaft noise) but because the Tempest shared the Corvair's swing axle suspension there were problems with marketing and the public's perception of the car, too. Converting to a more conventional design also meant that stronger transmissions could be used as well. Speaking of Tempests, list member Mike Holleman and his trophy-winning '64 are featured in one of the current Pontiac magazines...Mike, did you win at the POCI national convention in Greenville SC this year? Isn't this the car that Marisa Tomei (in "My Cousin Vinny") cited as the only GM 4-door sedan at the time to have posi-traction?
