I would suspect
it depends on what the specs of the radiator are and what it’s going in,
neither of which are mentioned.  Two 1-inch tube crossflow, 3 tube,
what?  What vehicle?  Does seem a bit high though when you can get a good
PRC from http://www.streetrodstuff.com/Products/157/
for $398 w/o cooler and $50 more with cooler and they’ll built it to your
specs.  I had one in my 67 and it worked very well.  http://dalesplace.com/images/chevelle/p001472.jpg

have
prices gone up that much in the last year ? Just got a quote and reply from Ron
Davis for a radiator:

I
like to use the cooler in the radiator in most applications and used as a
primary in a 2 cooler set-up for race and towing applications.  Your cost
for the one with the transmission cooler in it is $985.97 and with-out is
$916.57, both radiators are plus shipping.

Re: [Chevelle-list] 66 67 dash

2006-06-22 Thread Dale
According to both AIMS, the pedals carry different part numbers as do the
clevis, nut, rod, and pin.
66 is 3843931 pedal asm., 3711957 clevis, 9419815 nut, 3790222 rod, 3817879
pin
67 is 3900521 pedal asm. (w/3909632 shown as optional), 397165 clevis,
9420821 nut, 3900520 rod, 1379621 pin

Chevrolet parts book (circa 1971) also shows difference in replacements:
Group 4.625 PEDAL ASSY., Brake
3843931 ~ 64-66 Chevelle (exc. P.G.)
3843935 ~ 64-66 Chevelle w/P.G.
3937893 ~ 67-72 Chevelle w/A.T.
3937389 ~ 67-72 Chevelle (exc. A.T.)

The A.T. brake pedal assemblies may physically interchange between 66 and
67, but aren't correct parts called for.

Power brakes were a 66 option but 67 introduced the
front disc.  Warning flashers were also an option on 66 but standard and
built into the steering column in 67.  Some of the dash lights moved in 67
as well - noteably the high beam indicator to just below and between the '0' and
'10' mph mark.  Heater controls remained the same but A/C controls were
different.  The clutch and brake pedal assemblies also differed between
64-66 and 67.  TH400 was introduced in 67 for the SS,  2-speed wipers
std., backup lights moved to bumper...a myriad of subtle
changes.

Thanks for the additional info Dale. That makes
sense. I guess the 67 is a safer vehicle than the 66. Duel well, master cylinder,
power brake option (I think it started in 67 right?), collapsible column, hazard
lights, brake lights you can see from the side... what else?

  Roger,
copy.  The 67 dash incorporated the collapsible steering column (with
hazard warning flashers) and the windshield wiper switch had to be moved about
1/2” to the right as a result.  I would assume one could make the swap if
they included everything for the proper year but can’t attest to
  it.

  I got both a 66 and a 67 dash with
my basket case 66 Chevelle. There may be other differences that I don't know
about, but I can confirm that the cut-out where the column slides in is
smaller on the 66, making the 67 cover is somewhat
  larger.

Re: [Chevelle-list] 66 67 dash

2006-06-22 Thread John Nasta
From 1964-66 there were 2 companies making steering columns for GM.
One was GUIDE and you will see that in upper case on the turn signal
switch and probably on other plastic items. I always forget the name
of the other company. The internal parts of the columns are not
interchangeable. Most people have the GUIDE type. The other brand is
hard(er) to find. Many people end up swapping steering columns rather
than looking for parts for the other type.
