Re: [Chevelle-list] 1967 (283)
I have a 1958 283 in my 1969 El Camino w/ a 1970 TH350 and it's all a happy family. I want to put a 200-4R in my '70 Malibu. If I were you, the thing I would want to get rid of is the Powerglide.
Re: [Chevelle-list] 1967 (283)
Bob- As long as it runs good, why mess with it? 283s are good engines. I'd replace your Powerglide with a 700r4 and call it good. [Chevelle-list] 66 Tire & Wheels
Hi All, I've been procrastinating on purchasing new wheels and tires for my 66. I'm running 14" and want to go up to 15" or 16". Well I procrastinated too long, last weekend heading to a show, my RR tire decided to self destruct while I was doing 65 in the 3rd lane. I was able to get to the shoulder safely, while invisioning my quarter panel folding up. Well, the quarter isn't as bad as I imagined, but bad enough. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Moral of the story is replace older tires, even if they look good, (I knew that!!!) Todays question, anyone have any suggestions on wheel / tire size and types. I am sort of old school, grew up in the 60's - 70's. I'm running 14" cragar SS with 225 x 70 BFG's. A bit fatter would be good, but I don't want to get into rolling fender well lips or scraping. I'd say she's an inch or so lower than stock. I know this has been discussed in the past, but any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks Mark

[Chevelle-list] Power Steering Pitman Arm
I need to take off the pitman arm off my old box and put it on a new box (the new box’s arm is too long). Is there any special way to do this? It looks just like should slip off but I’ve put quite a bit of effort into and can’t seem to get it. Thanks, JB
[Chevelle-list] Inserts for head rests
We are reupholstering bucket seats for 71 Chevelle. We need the plastic piece that goes inside the seat for the metal tube part of the head rest to insert into. It's one tubular piece with a bracket type top to fasten the headrest locks onto. Can't seem to find this part in any of the numerous car part catalogs we have. Anybody know where we can get them ? Thanks, Melanie

Re: [Chevelle-list] 1967 (283)
If the Powerglide is working well, it will be just fine with your crate motor. I installed a 330 HP/380 Foot pound GMPP crate motor in my 1965 and it is great. Would I prefer a 700R4? Sure, but that takes another $2200.
