it?  283s are good engines.  I'd replace your Powerglide with a 700r4

[Chevelle-list] 66 Tire & Wheels

2006-07-22 Thread mdesenberg
Hi All,

I've been procrastinating on purchasing new wheels and tires for my 66. I'm
running 14" and want to go up to 15" or 16". Well I procrastinated too long,
last weekend heading to a show, my RR tire decided to self destruct while I was
doing 65 in the 3rd lane. I was able to get to the shoulder safely, while
invisioning my quarter panel folding up. Well, the quarter isn't as bad as I
imagined, but bad enough. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Moral of the story is
replace older tires, even if they look good, (I knew that!!!)

Todays question, anyone have any suggestions on wheel / tire size and types. I
am sort of old school, grew up in the 60's - 70's. I'm running 14" cragar SS
with 225 x 70 BFG's. A bit fatter would be good, but I don't want to get into
rolling fender well lips or scraping. I'd say she's an inch or so lower than
stock. I know this has been discussed in the past, but any ideas will be
appreciated.

Thanks
Mark

We are reupholstering bucket seats for 71 Chevelle.
We need the plastic piece that goes inside the seat for the metal tube part of
the head rest to insert into. It's one tubular piece with a bracket type top to
fasten the headrest locks onto.

Can't seem to find this part in any of the numerous
car part catalogs we have.  Anybody know where we can get them ?

If the Powerglide is working well, it will be just
fine with your crate motor.  I installed a 330 HP/380 Foot pound GMPP crate
motor in my 1965 and it is great.  Would I prefer a 700R4?  Sure, but
that takes another $2200.
