What is a "Automoble radio vibrator"? Saw this in their online catalog.

*The Truth as I remember it*.Once upon a time, long, long ago, auto
radios had vacuumn tubes inside. You can look it up in the history books
. The tubes needed a high voltage to heat the cathode (?) (its
been a long time) in order to operate. The 6 volts, ( yes back then
automobile systems used *6* volt batteries) of the battery was not
enough. The vibrator converted the 6V DC to pulsating DC. Then the voltage
was raised to a level that would heat the cathode by use of a
transformer.

Then along came John Bardeen, William Shockley, and Walter Brattain.
And the rest is history.

Its been 40+ years, so take the above with a healthy dose of salt.

A while back there was a discussion about the difference between big and
small block frame stands for the early Chevelles. Someone had taken
pictures with the big and small block stands side by side for comparison.
Does anyone still have that picture and if you do can you forward it to me?
Thanks.

Just a point of clarification. When I said "just a hose" I didn't mean
garden hose. I just meant that you don't have to worry about special
bends in the metal, because you re-use the metal parts of the old
return hose assembly, and just clamp the new hose on.

Check this site out for part numbers. Power steering hose is made not to
degrade from chemical exposure.

The return hose is just a piece of hose. You can get the pressure hose
from any local parts store but it will not be bent the same way as OEM
and you will have to modify the end that connects to the steering box,
unless it is going to be a show car, in which case I think the people
here could point you to a match for OEM.

Yes I sent it in. Took 4 weeks to get it back but was worth it. They replaced
the innards with a digital unit. You can't tell by looking at it except for the
LED light that tells me when I'm receiving AM or FM. I could have chose to
leave that. The sound is fantastic. I think I paid $375. Well worth it to me.

  Two questions for you.

I'm assuming you sent in your orginal and had it converted. What was the cost
and what did you have done?

Thanks for the idea Jerry. My delco still works but needs some tune up
and cosmetics done to it. Know it'll sound good but detracts from the my car in
current condition. You going to CB07? Thanks, Les.

I've had mine for about a year now and I don't know how I lived without it.
It's great for cleaning lower half of the car for the next car show but that
was never on my mind when I bought it. Mine is a 2 post.
