You are correct. Actually I disconnected all of the cables to remove the
TPI system. Reinstalled TPI and am reconnecting the same cables. I'm
gonna bite the bullet. The front end is 18 inches in the air, it will be
no problem to drop the pan. Do it RIGHT, do it ONCE.

Tim - Sounds right to me.

I'm building a garage/shop to house my '71 Malibu and '66 Elky project
(in addition to some other toys). The garage will have 11' 4" ceilings,
and I'd like to look into a 4-post lift.

Does the list have any suggestions on make/model of lift, or what to
stay away from. I'm considering a Greg Smith Pro Park 8.

Thanks for your help.

I just picked up a 700R4 to replace my 350 Turbo in my 1968 Beaumont.
Currently RPM too high on highways. Is there any way to get a 2spd column to
shift all the gears. It can just do the 3spd now, but 1st is hard to get.

Thank you for all input. Also found the shifter cable thread handy.

Taking time to beat on the classics.

Dave i've got a 2 speed column in my 67, it was shifting all the way
thru the gears on my TH350, i had a local tranny shop build and install
a 700R4 and i'm still shifting thru all the gears on my column, you may
want to switch to a lokar column shift linkage.

2007-09-27 Thread bad66chevelle454

Rick,

Well I need to flush my 700R4 anyways, so I'll adjust it then. When the TV
cable wasnt adjusted, it shifted really slow between gears...and it would shift
from 1st, to second, then instantly into 3rd. Once I got that TV Cable adjusted
up, it really made a world of difference. Before I thought the converter was
going out or something. How I adjusted was basically had my Dad hold it WOT,
then pulled the TV cable till it was almost pulled out the entire way, then
tighten up the allen screw. It seems to be working perfect right now. I'll
still check it when I have the pan down. Thanks for the help,

Rick, I hope I'm understanding correctly that you haven't changed the linkage,
just replaced the cable on a system that was working right before? You adjust
the throttle cable first with the TV unhooked. Then adjust the TV to fully
stroke the plunger. The plunger cannot be over stroked due too the design of
the lever that works it. The lever will bottom out against the valve body. But
I don't know any other way to be sure the plunger is fully stroked without
watching it.
