Kevin,

It's a Malibu. This restore was on a budget. Most of the parts I acquired over
the years I picked up when the price was right and not when I needed it. Ended
up putting the car on the road less the big block in the garage for $16,000
plus my time.
I still have a wish list but they are all things that can be added later. The
SS dash is one of them. I keep hoping that I will find a sweet deal. The
experience I gained from restoring the sweep dash will pay off when I find one.

Godspeed,

Rich,

It looks like the drives side remote sport is available in reproduction for
under $90. Classic Muscle shows it available and I am sure the others have it
as well.
Looks like you will have to find a donor for the passenger side. Seems that
that was a dealer installed option even in 71-72.

It will come together. Mine took 11 years. I kind of stalled at the rolling
chassis. The problem was finding someone who was willing to do the body and
paint without having to rob a bank or refinance the house.
Take care of the kids. That's the most important thing. The Chevelle will
always be around but they won't. Enjoy every day that you have with them. Raise
them right. Give them plenty of hugs and someday, when you look back, you'll be
glad you did.

Thank God for Kevin. You are a person I would enjoy talking to and encouraging.
I read most of what all is said on the forum and know first hand the roller
coaster ride that is building a car. It make me feel good to know that the old
car is important but not as important than one own family. My prayer is that
Kevin and his kids will enjoy restoring and driving an old car. They just don't
make 1970 chevelles any more.

[Chevelle-list] Engine questions

2007-10-22 Thread Josh Campbell
Hey guys I started tearing into the 350 I'm poking in the 71, I'm wanting to
try to get away with just doing a re-ring and bearing job, does anyone have the
stock specs for a 70s block? My MSA-1 book isn't all that helpful saying
1969-1979 350 or 302 (crank and bore says 350 plus it s 2 bolt main block).
Anyway here are some numbers,
  Front pad
  VO313DRC
  19N587358
  Rear pad
  3970010
I am told it came out of a Camaro but its original origin is questionable.
Well thanks in advance for any info.
