I just recieved a 4in cowl for a 66 ss and it was a Glasstech. It looks like
there won't be too much adjusting but overall a good fit. They make it seem
like they are custom making it for you. All in all, I would purchase from them
again. The crate was well designed and it did take about 6 weeks but I ordered
it around XMAS so the wait was nothing if you live in the Northeast

[Chevelle-list] FW: smooth firewall

2008-02-14 Thread Jim H. Thompson

Anyone who is interested in a smooth firewall kit. I talked to Paul
Gonzalez. He sent me his cell number. They run $300 plus shipping. Check the
black El Camino on his web site under customer cars.

He is great to talk to maybe we can get a group purchase. He ships in a
plywood crate so getting one location to ship to would be the key.

Re: [Chevelle-list] Hello? / Engine Storage Box

2008-02-14 Thread dennis.mcgillis

Hi Jim,

Is it the plastic storage box or the $220 that is overkill? The 283 will be
stored outdoors and even with our temperate southern California climate it
would rust badly if just sitting on the pallet so I found the box and also
an engine bag from Eastwood which is supposed to minimize corrosion. And
yup, I did all the normal things to preserve it.

Thanks,
Dennis

Isn't that overkill? Did you flush the cooling system and change the oil?
Spray the cylinders down to keep the rings from rusting?

*

The list does seem unusually quiet. Maybe no one is working on their cars.

I received the plastic shipping crate ($220 from www.scribnerplastics.com)
to store my original 283. Now the trick will be to mount the engine and
wrestle it to the storage place.

By R&R, do you mean replaced? Both at one time is tough, I had one done last
Oct. and getting ready to do the other. The Dr. did not recommend both at
same time. I know rehab on one was h! I can't imagine both at same time.
Mine was ruff till about the 10th week, then over night it turned around and
was terrific compared to the old knee, but for the first 10 weeks I wondered
if I had done the right thing getting it replaced. Now I wouldn't hesitate to
get the other done and going to asap. Just going to miss driving the 4 sp
for a while. Hope everything is going good.
