One of my customeers here in KY is restoring his 70 SS and needs a set
of new pistons for his 402 (bored 30 over). He has checked Summit and JEGS
and several other suppliers and can't seem to find any stock type pistons
for this motor. Anybody out there got a set they want to part with?

If that is a 65 block and crank you have a small journal. Call first you may
be limited to a GM balancer.

Did you have the crank drilled for a center bolt? I have drilled them in the
car almost as much fun as a cam swap.

I need to change the balancer on my 327 from the skinny little stock six
inch one but I don't know how to determine which way to go. The motor is
not stock anymore, it has about 460 ponys in the stable. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

[Chevelle-list] Lead additive?

2008-06-24 Thread Dan Rachlin
I'm sure most of you don't need it. But for those of you who do, where are
you getting it from? Is there a place we can order a case or something? I
have a 66 396 that was rebuilt, but the builder left the heads alone and
said that the seats were in good so to remove them would cause more
problems. So until I can get the heads done again, I need to add lead
additive to my fuel and need to get some.
Thanks for any help.

Did you bench bleed the master cylinder first? Does your proportioning valve
have a button on the front? If so depress that first.

2008-06-24 Thread Tom Rightler
You really don't need to put a lead additive in the gas because the heads have
the original valve seats. The seats themselves will harden over time just from
being an in service car. I just run plain old unleaded 87 Octane in my 69 with
the original engine in it.

Does the prop valve look like this one:
http://www.inlinetube.com/images/Prop%20Valves/pr106.jpg that is the
button on the left. My GM service manual (for 72) says that button
needs to be pushed in when bleeding rear brakes. They have an
explaination, but honestly its been so long that I can't remember the
details. Something to do with the auto shut off of fluid (safety feature)
if you get a leak at either the front or rear I think.

Yes I do belong. Have not become lifetime yet, but if I do, they will refund
all previous dues paid. I have had my gas reimbursed a couple of times, (Has
paid for membership) and had a couple of test products. One was a 'Rain x'
type thing and other was a caulk gun thing. Both pretty cheap things. Never
got more gas coupons after emailng twice and have yet to receive a third
test product. Was good for a while then stopped? The mag is pretty good
though.
