[Chevelle-list] Faceplate on 1970 Radio
Interested in removing the faceplate on the radio in my 70 so I can either rework it or replace it. I have the spring clips off but it looks like the AM/FM slide switch needs to be removed as well. Anyone had one of these apart before or have access to a Delco service manual? The last thing I want to do is break it. Good idea; rubber has a shelf life of 5-6 years. If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. Re: [Chevelle-list] Fuel
Rick, I think you have touched on the real cause! My 65 Malibu suffered from fuel starvation due to the blocked and broken sock and the gunk that came through. Cleaned the tank, removed the sock and fitted an in-line fuel filter. Re: [Chevelle-list] 69 Chevelle Gas Tank
Frank; You didn't say in your post whether it was a new tank or used that you was using for a replacement. When I dropped mine to replace the sending unit I coated the top of the tank with anti-rust gel, let that dry and went over the top of that with some brush enamel that I had laying around. Since it is the top of the tank it doesn't show anyway. Might be a little over kill on my part, but Chevelle tanks are known to rust on the top. Figured it couldn't hurt since the tank was down anyway. If you have any issues with the fuel Gage sending unit or venting, now is the time to resolve them ! Just my two cents ! I have new straps, rubber stripping, mounting hardware and of course the tank. Anything I should be aware of, i.e. difficulties etc. Please let me know, as this one thing I have never replaced before. Thanks, Frank Gondermann 69 Chevelle SS ACES Member 07312
