[Chevelle-list] Timing Question
1969 Chevelle with a 1967, 396 that I recently purchased. The timing calls for 4 degrees BTDC which I was going to set to about 10 degrees BTDC. When I went to check, it is set at 7 degrees ATDC. I thought that maybe my timing light is not working right so I left it alone for now. It runs well with a bit of hesitation after it shifts at full throtle. If it is right would the car even run at 7 degrees ATDC or should I be looking for another problem. [Chevelle-list] Engine ID and which oil filter
I have a 69 396 Chevelle SS. I bought a PF35 filter but the filter I took off has the rubber gasket closer to the center and the hole is smaller diameter. The engine block next to the filter says PASS, K, 14, HIPERF. The casting number behind the drivers side head is not a casting but instead stamped with 3902406. What motor do I have and which filter should I buy. Thanks _ Free yourself from those irritating pop-up ads with MSn Premium. [Chevelle-list] Which oil Filter do I use
I have a 1969 SS 396. I need an oil filter and the book at the parts store says to use a PH30 but that is the little short one. Does any one know the number for the long oil filter that will fit my 396. [Chevelle-list] Heater Controls
I am new to this list and hope you can help. I have a 1969 Chevelle SS with air and the middle slider that allows you to switch between A/C and HEAT will only slide half way from A/C to bi-level. It will not move to the HEAT position. Is there a way to free this up or adjust it. Thanks _ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8. [Chevelle-list] 69 Chevelle Air Heat Question
Hi folks, I have a 1969 big block Chevelle with air. I have noticed that when I move the top slider to max or norm the compressor kick in. However, it stays on even when I continue to slide it all the way over to hot. Is this normal? I would assume that the compresser should switch off when you slide it all the way over to Hot. If its not normal any suggestions at what I should look for. Thanks _ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses. Re: [Chevelle-list] 69 Chevelle Air Heat Question
Thanks for the replies. Now that I looked at it again, I see the problem. The middle slider that says A/C on the left, BI-LEVEL in the middle and HEATER on the right won't slide all the way to the right. It will only go as far as BI-LEVEL. This must be why the compressor stays on. Is there an way to fix the slider so that it will move all the way to the right (HEATER position). Thanks again. Putting in on any of the A/C settings will make it stay on regardless of the temperature setting.
