Re: [Chevelle-list] Looking for a Book

2005-02-22 Thread BRENT CASTLE
Tom,
You are right,Late Great Chevys did take over N.C.O.A. My friend tells me
that Mark was going to be a correspondent or such with them. He also
informes me that Mark is selling in A.C.E.S. the last issue, perhaps a way
to get in touch with him. I would also offer to you this telephone number
listing for [EMAIL PROTECTED] Meekins in High Point N.C.>>(336) 841-4700, it's worth
a try. Good Luck and keep us informed. I am fortunate to have the first
edition as well as the second edition published August 1989.

Actually Late Great Chevys took over the NCOA, the book has been taken off
the market for some time now. The only thing I can do is keep an eye out
for
it, never know where it may pop up.

Tom,
I've seen that book and have also wanted to purchase one. It would
appear
it is coveted by those who own one and no longer available for purchase. I
wonder if Mark Meekens still has one or two laying around. He seems to have
completely disappeared from the Chevelle scene.

Trooper
I noticed that too, I haven't heard anything from him since the NCOA
disappeared. I do have a current address for him though. I was thinking
of sending
him a letter to see if he has anymore of those books. The only other thing
I
noticed while browsing around ebay is that he is selling off some chevelle
parts here and there.

There's always one who will disagree. I would not run 4.10's on the
highway without an overdrive trans.
Tom,if your engine was only turning 3500 at 75mph,you either had a bad
tach or some very tall rear tires.

I disagree. I was running 4.10's in my 70 for the last 5 years and at
3500 RPM's the car ran 75 MPH. I never had a problem with the 4.10's on
the highway. The car had a sweet spot between 3500 and 4000 RPMs and it
ran great. It never overheated and got 15 MPG. My 69 with a 307/PG and
2.73's gets worse gas mileage than the 500 HP big block in the 70.

Hello all,
I know that some of us indulged a bit last night so I'm typing really
quiet.

I'm finally finished with my 'house' projects and am now able to start work
on the '69 again. Yesterday I worked and fiddled but got her running... a
396 with open headers is truly a sound to behold. Anyway, I'm beginning to
work on the interior and was wondering what tips and/or tricks anyone has
for refinishing the plastic instrument bezel. Mine is in pretty good
physical shape, but the black and some of the chrome plating has worn
through in a few places. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to get
it looking back to original.

Thanks!

Nick;
The model you are refering to is CONCOURS and is either model 137-13835
4-door 2 seat or 137-13845 4-door 3 seat.This information was found on page
134 in National Chevelle Owners Association Chevelle And El Camino I.D.
Model Codes book.I believe that N.C.O.A. is now covered by A.C.E.S. Check
with the aftermarket Chevelle parts suppliers and or Chevy dealer parts
counter.
