Hi Guys,

My '65 Chevelle got a new radiator from Kragen/O'reilly today and since they
don't list a '65 three-row, I bought a '66 three-row. Mechanically, it works
 But. . .

My '65 trans cooler lines have flare ends, like brake lines.

The '66 radiator has female pipe threads, should it be that way?

Is there an easy solution?

Thanks,

They sell fittings with the male pipe threads on one end the female flared
on the other end, just buy the fittings you don't have to do any cutting
or flairing.

Simply cut off the flares, slide on the male ends and re-flare. You may
already have the male ends on the lines they have just slide down the lines.
You may also buy premade ends that can be spliced on to the old lines with a
coupler. Any trans shop, brake or radiator shop can do it for you.

goes as follows;

I'm glad that you're interested in my car. The car is street legal and
accurate. It comes with all the documents needed for registration, it has a
clear title and it can be registered into your name at any time. I am
willing to sell it for $4500 .This buy now price does include the shipping

2008-06-06 Thread Mikey
Brake Kleen works great along with a stainless brush. I used to do a lot of
welding on aluminum fuel tanks, chipper chutes radiator shrouds,it was all
done with a hand spool mig welder. When I did steel I just changed the cable
gas was set to go. The main important thing is to just make sure the
aluminum is CLEAN If not... The weld gets impurities, which means you have
to grind down start all over again..no fun.

I save all my copies of 3-4 car magazine subscriptions and also copies of 3-4 woodworking magazines. Plus a bunch of catalogs. There is something in every issue that will never go out of date. A special project, Plans, tips and tricks.Articles and picturesthat will be nice to have down theroad. There's got to be somebody out there with the same problem.
Right now I have them stacked on the floor of my computer room in neat 11 stacks. Very neatly, but not according to my wife. Once I put them in boxes I will probably never reference them again. Anybody out there with a good filing system, that works
Suggestions welcome.

 Hey Ron,

All SS' were equipped with a 396 with 3 different hp versions, the turbo auto trans was optional and only on the 396,but you could'nt get it on the 375hp engines tho.The SS' had a blacked out grille, rear cove panel, the hood scoops, rocker wheel wellmldgs and side accent stripes. The blacked out instrument panel was only for the SS' along with all the SS' badges.A vinyl bench seat was standard, the redline tires, dog dish caps were also standard. You could get the disc brakes with ralley wheels redlines as an option, and you know about the tach headrests. El Camino SS' weren't built in '67 but you could get all the SS package without the emblems.I don't think they came with the full guage package, the trim , interior conveniencepackages were all options. Mostly tho you could get whatever you ordered they offered for that year. That is a beautiful car, it is funny seeing it with a bench column shifter.

The gauge package (RPO U14) could be ordered on any V8 sport coupe or convertible,so it wasn't a SS-only thing and it's not clear if it was available on the Elky. Chevelle options brochure says V8 sport coupe/convertible only (meaning no L6 cars and no wagons) and the Elky literature doesn't mention it. Correct that you could get any of the 396 engines and any trans in the Elky (TH400 with 396 only) and no SS Elky until 1968. The trans option might have changed after printing theoptions brochure however. The trim level on the Elky was still Malibu level in 67. Lower belt line trim, wood grain dash strip, NO SS hood even with the 396s,and even the Malibu script above the glove compartment.

[Chevelle-list] fenders

2003-11-29 Thread Mikey

Hi everyone, hope your all having a nice holiday weekend. I have been looking at afew 65's for sale and on a couple of them, noticed that the passenger side front fender eyebrow isbent down where it is meeting with the hood moulding. Is that a repop mistake or poor alignment of the fender? I was just wondering if it could be corrected.

Mikey, I have three 65's and two of them are real straight. If I understand what you are seeing, the eyebrow is angled down where it meets the hood trim? If all is right these two pieces should line directly up with each other. Several things can cause this misalignment. If the fenders are original and not bent the eyebrow moulding could be bent or not properly installed. You can correct it without a bunch of trouble. I wouldn't let it scare you away from buying the car.

Yep, I have a Sony digital disc does thesame thing, I'm not sure but I think it might have something to do with the flash charge if it is to be used. The best thing to do is get one of those movie type thingamabobs that takes moving pictures, I think it's called a camcorder...than you can catch those little rascals moving fast or slow. I have what is probably a silly question. I just picked up a Kodak 4230 digital camera just for snapping pics of cars and stuff for ebay, etc. However, I noticed that it does not work like my regular camera in that there is a delay between when you press the shutter button and when it actually takes the photo. Drives me nuts. My question is, are they ALL like this or just this Kodak. I mean, imagine trying to take a picture of a three year old when there's a 1.5 second delay. Shoot, my kids move so fast that by the time the shutter clicks they're in the next room.

I think it would be an easy bolt in. The proper holes should be there for the hydraulic cylinders, and I would think the top would be the same. They didn't make 2 different bodies. One for manual and one for auto tops. Unless your going to go with new parts I think the hard part would be finding a good donor car.

Subject: [Chevelle-List] Who cares?

My question is, who the hell cares?

Reminds me of the old adage: Apathy, who cares?

I see again the point was missed. Obviously the writer of the question
cares about poor instructions, missing and misleading information. My
comments were NOT directed at any one person in particular, certainly
not the writer and was NOT meant to be funny or a put down.

The point is if you can't communicate, either by the written word or
orally, you're going to have a tough time in the world. I'm sure all of
us have received poor or incomplete (in our own opinion) instructions on
doing something with our cars and nothing frustrates me more than poor
instructions on how to accomplish a task...any task. Maybe we've been
told some job should only take a couple of hours and, due to our
personal lack of skills or knowledge in that area, it winds up taking
three days. Is that our fault or can we push the blame to someone else?

Most email programs have a spell check in them. If yours doesn't, try
running MS Word or Wordperfect. Type the word in question and check it
there. If you still can't figure out how to spell it, don't use it.
Think of another way of asking the question or stating the opinion. Why
push the burden to someone else to figure out what you're trying to say?
If you can't figure it out, how can someone else? Not having typing
skills is not an excuse in my opinion. Typing is simply an alternative
to writing with pencil and paper and much easier to correct. It doesn't
matter if you type 100 words a minute or one a minute with a straw
between your teeth. If this simple skill eludes us, how can we be sure
 of our other skills?

If NOBODY cared, pretty soon we'd be so lax that nobody could figure out
what anyone was saying, we'd have parts that don't fit and instructions
that made no sense. I'm sure we've all been there and experienced it.
Do we only care when it happens to us?

 Dale
