sligtly modified.
I Want to put a Edelbrock street tunnel ram and 2 600 holly carbs. and a street
scoop. I know a friend that is selling this like new to me very cheap. I want to
know what you guys think about this set up. (Im a non stocker throw it in the celler
cuz im never going to sell it kind of car builder)

And is there a way to keep low end with this set up? tell me everything you know! :) I
know it will look sick but I want to build it so it is sick!! cam size or anything
would be helpful.

Lisa,

I dont know the value of such a car, but it sounds really nice.

BUT I can say one thing , énjoy your car and stop worrying about if you
paid to much.
This hobby isnt about earning (for most of us) its about containing the
losses.

Just my opinion !

André

Hi, can anyone give me any ideas on figuring out the value of a 1970 C

Re: [Chevelle-List] small block heads

2002-05-30 Thread michael andrews

-Hey again guys,

Any one have the new E-tec heads? anyone know anything about them?
I know you have to buy that special little intake. In another month im going to be
buying new heads and would like to get the most power
for my buck!! I would like 202 heads.

Right now I don't know what the heads are but I keep fouling a plug on the 8th. Looks
like oil?
I know the heads are not 202. The block is a 350 4 bolt main bored 20 over with a mild
cam.
should I also buy a new cam? This needs to be streetable and afordablethe dirty
college takes most of my money.

Engine: on it now is a 650 holly vac seconds (I have a 750 holly double pumper),
proformer intake (I have a victor jr intake also), crap heads, 350 block 4 bolt main
bored 20 over, mild cam (specs unknown), pistions (unknown), MSD street Ignition(soon
to be MSD Al), Pete jackson gears

Tran: 350 turbo w/shift kit (also have a 400 turbo)

Rear: 12 bolt posi, 3.73

HOW MUCH POWER DO YOU THINK THIS IS? HOW MUCH MORE WILL I HAVE IF I GET NEW HEADS?
well thanks for the help the budget is going to be about 1,200 I turn around 13
seconds at the track and would like to move down.

RE: [Chevelle-List] 2 projects for photo op!

2002-05-30 Thread michael andrews

Hey,

I have 2 Chevelles, one is a 1970 Chevelle that is almost done about 95%. I have
pictures if you would like. Its viper red right now--but this winter its getting a
make over to black with flames. I will let the pictures do the talking!

The 72 Chevelle is my new project-- it has not a 283, not a 327, not a 350 not even a
454 but a 1968 472 caddy motor, that clocks in at 525 foot lb of tourq stock! it also
has a 400 turbo--soon to have a 12 bolt rear posi. I just gutted the inside to inspect
the floor (thank god its good, im working off a college student budget here) I peeled
most the 5 layers of paint off the hood today. you can count the colors and even see
them (that was way cool for me, you know small minds) I don't really now all off what
im going to do but i want to get it streetable first. I like to do all the work myself
or friends do it, don't believe in shops (rip off! we trade talents most of the time)
I Have 3 friends with projects going on! 1 69 Comaro, 1 69 Cuttlass, and 1 71 F%$d
must@ng. I have pictures of my project Chevelles just mail me and I will show you
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

thanks if you read this far! hope ya consider me,

Re: [Chevelle-List] What the *%^

2002-05-18 Thread michael andrews

Car trouble?

the engine is a 350 bored 20 over with a 650 carb, proformer intake, MSD Ignition and
8.8 wires, and a mild cam

the tranny is a 350 turbo with a shift kit

here is the problem I am having, i have a 2000 high stall convertor. when I step on to
the brake and push the gas it will stall to 2000 but when i push the gas more it will
bog down? Then if I do this and let go of the brake it will start off slow then pick
up speed? what could be the problem. It doesn't sound like the convertor is slipping
it sounds like the engine is?

thanks mike

IIRC the 425 was introduced in the mid to late '70s
after the 472 and 500 had been phased out. It's
probably got pretty good low-end torque but I suspect
aftermarket parts may be relatively scarce compared to
Chevy and other GM engines. I know Edelbrock came out
with some 472-500 parts in the last couple of years but
they might not fit the 425; perhaps you can find some
info at edelbrock.com.

If it's running OK and you're not in a hurry to do
anything with it you might as well stick with it for the
time being, but if you start thinking about mods you
might find an engine swap will give you more options and
flexibility.

--Ok maybe to change the pace of this I will tell you all a story!

One day (all good storys start with one day) I was driving down the road and the car
died (1970 chevelle) The damn thing would not turn over! I was sitting there ashamed,
and a undercover cop in the other lane got out and said, need a hand! (scared because
of the glasspacks) I said yea that would be great! so we pushed it into the parkinglot
and he left. So I thought for a minute and opened the hood. It all boiled down to a
lose wire. (I buffed the hand prints off the car and drove away)

moral of the story (I thought hot rodders and cops are like vinegar and oil they don't
mix will)
I learned (respect cops and they give you respect)

Chris,
I had 15X10 Cragars on my 72. I don't know what the
backspacing was. Running BFG 255-60-15s I had to
raise the rear with air shocks and the previous owner
had some huge springs in the back. I didn't like the
ride or the stance. I now have 15X7 ralleys and have
put stock performance springs and the ride height is
normal. Without the big springs the tires would rub on
the wheel well lip.

Motion built the cars to customer orders but would suggest the parts that he
knew would work. He used the speed parts that were popular at the times such
as Hooker, Hurst, Holley etc. On some cars he used 1967 Corvette side pipes
some used Hooker. Many got fiberglass hoods as well. Here is a picture of an
unrestored 1970 454 Motion Chevelle.

I have never worked on the tran beforeIs this something I can do
myself? How much does new leakage cost? How would I go about doing this?

Yep, pretty easy. Have someone in the car move the lever while you look at
it...make sure the connection you see close to the tranny case is moving
properly and is not loose.I fixed mine once in 3 minutes.
