RE: [Chevelle-List] 65 SS Yea Right
Title: Message No, no...I know you didn't mean the "K" implied the SS option...that's confirmed with the 138 VIN. Just meant his was "probably" the letter Z instead of the second "7." Probably some extra paint on the tag and bending over the fender and sometimes having to turn your head sideways makes it difficult sometimes. :*) I use a couple of sources for information on trim tags and VINs. One is the program available from TC (download for a price). Another is my GM Parts & Accessory manual from 1971/72 that shows Chevelle parts from 64-71 (some 72). The same manual (along with some others) is photocopied on the Detroit Iron CD I also have for '67s. This manual breaks down the models in a reference chart showing the models and their id such as "13517" and it differentiates between the "Chevelle," the "Chevelle Deluxe," "Malibu," etc. Probably where people use the saying that, "All Malibus are Chevelles, but not all Chevelles are Malibus." Where a 67 4-door sedan Malibu has a different model (such as 13535) than a 67 4-door sedan Chevelle and/or Chevelle Deluxe with 13335. I'd be happy to scan the 4 pages that show model ids for 64 to 71 and pass those along via email if you'd like. Title: Message I agree Larry, but if it IS a SS car like the ad claims, why not post the VIN to prove it? I don't remember seeing ~clone~ or ~look alike~ in the ad. There is a block for the VIN when doing assembling the ad. Anyone who claims a particular model, without clarification in the ad, and doens't include the VIN is suspect IMO. RE: [Chevelle-List] 65 SS Yea Right
I would be suspicious since the VIN wasn't entered. I've only sold one car on ebay and there is a definate block for the VIN. Putting ~used~ in the block makes it questionable. Replacement parts and/or paint could be the reason for the grille, cove, etc. Dale McIntosh > -Original Message- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of rocky hill > Sent: Friday, December 13, 2002 3:42 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: [Chevelle-List] 65 SS Yea Right > > > Thats a pretty broad statment to make because the rear > cove outline isn't there, and the grille isn't blacked > out. There is not enough information from the description and > pictures to make that determinaton. > > The 66SS came with a blacked out grille also, but I > have seen a few that were re-done and the black taken > off. > > Rocky > My66SS http://www.geocities.com/rocks66ss > > > --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > > > The grill should be blacked out and the trunk lid > > should have a black > > outline inside the outer trim, but not under the > > center letering. > > > > Am I missing anything? > > > > Harald Nielsen > > Systems Specialist III > > Lincoln Water System > > (402)944-3306 > > > > > > > > > > > - > > To Unsubscribe please visit > > www.chevelles.net/list.html > > To start a new topic, send mail to: > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > __ > Do you Yahoo!? > Yahoo! Thats a pretty broad statment to make because the rear cove outline isn't there, and the grille isn't blacked out. There is not enough information from the description and pictures to make that determinaton.
