Because of this I just decided to keep mine uncovered. It's
easier to polish the aluminum then deal with yellowing
coating...Dang!

I have heard about some people polishing up their
aluminum valve covers and then clear coating them to keep them nice
looking and bright. Have any of you done this? If so, what type of clear
coat did you use and what did you use to prep the polished aluminum for
the clear coat?  I assume you would have to use a heat approved clear
  coat?

  Thanks

Read on Team Chevelle awhile ago, that POR had
developed/re-developed a product that would NOT yellow when used on an
intake manifold.  Sorry that is all I remember.

Cool, thanks.  I'm having my ACCEL FI polished
during the upcoming engine overhaul and this may just help it stay looking
shiny!

I have been told that the Diamond Clear from Eastwood works very well on
aluminum intake manifolds. I was going to do this myself as a winter project.

Yes, I tried that. NAPA rattle-can clear coat. Worked great...for
awhile. Now, the clear has flaked off in places, and like the rest of
the car, looks pretty ratty.

That's not to say the concept is bad, but it didn't work out well for
me.
