I may have a rear bench seat for a convertible. Send
me the width of the seat you need and I will check
this one.

Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac A-bodies use the same buckets you would just have
to change the covers.

A front bench from a 69 to 72 Abody (including BOP) will work. Only
difference would be the covers. The 68 wouldn't have head rests and
would look a little different but should bolt in.

Like Tom said, the vert back will be tough to find and a bit pricey.

Wouldn't any 68-72 work as long as it's from a two-door?

I'd like to get one for my '69 El Camino because the seat that is in
there is from a four door car, so the backs don't tilt up. The seat
does not even seem to be from a 68-72 A-body because only two mounts
line up at a time (front or back but not both) and the seat is too far
forward even when it's all the way back. Hopefully some day that dream
will be realized...

Quoting Tom Rightler [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

The internet, hemmings motor news, etc.

The front bench seat is pretty easy to come by. Any 70-72 will
work, just a matter of the fabric patterns being different. The
covnertible rear seat is very tough to find, expect to pay about
$300 for a good core.

Re: [Chevelle-list] bench seat

2007-04-04 Thread Matthew Post
Thanks for all the responses. I'm going to see if I can take it
apart and figure out how to package it up for shipping. For you guys
that expressed interest in buying it, I'll contact you individually
in the order you responded. I'm in CA, so shipping could be too
expensive if you are on the East coast, but we'll see.

hello, just picked up a split bench seat on e - bay, when talking
to the seller he said theres a difference between a 66 and 67, the
difference being on a 66 you can just move the seat and crawl in
the back, and on a 67 they lock in place and one needs to pull
up on the bottom lever to release, i have always had buckets and
really not up on the bench seat, was just wondering if this is
true or not, this info may help someone else on the list restoring
a 66 or 67 and getting it correct, is the seller correct ?

Dont throw it away! They are getting just as hard, and darn near as expensive
as the bucket seats. Shipping, seperate it and box it. Or you could strap it

If it is a split front seat you just remove the plastic piece where the seat
folds forward and remove the press on nut and then pull the back of the seat
off the peg that sticks out where the nut went on and the whole back piece will
lift out from where in pivots in the center. Do the same on the other side and
remove the tracks on the bottom for the most compact shipping... ER

hello, just picked up a split bench seat on e - bay, when talking
to the seller he said theres a difference between a 66 and 67, the
difference being on a 66 you can just move the seat and crawl in
the back, and on a 67 they lock in place and one needs to pull
up on the bottom lever to release, i have always had buckets and
really not up on the bench seat, was just wondering if this is
true or not, this info may help someone else on the list restoring
a 66 or 67 and getting it correct, is the seller correct ?

[Chevelle-list] bench seat size weight

2005-03-17 Thread John Nasta
Does anybody know even roughly what the shipping dimensions weight of a
1970 front bench seat would be (from a 2-door)? I don't know if the backs
will fold down flat or if they'd have to be removed or what. Any help is
appreciated.

Thanks,
John Nasta

[Chevelle-List] Bench Seat

2003-01-23 Thread Dwight Fulton

I have a vinyl covered bench seat with fold down armrest a row of buttons about 8" down from the top of the seats that runs the wiidth of the seats. I' sure it's from a A-Body probably from a Olds or maybe a Monty. Anybody know how to ID it so I can get a seat upholstery kit for it? I want to put it in my Elky.

Probably
from an Olds or Buick. Both used seat-back buttons depending on the year. I don't
think any Chevy or Pontiac A-body ever got the strato-bench (bench
w/ center armrest) from the factory.

The back
seat depends on whether it is a coupe or convertible.

I need one
for my 69 El Camino too. Any 1968-72 2dr GM A-body front seat has the same
frame AFAIK. You would just need to change the upholstery.

Not sure about late model El-Caminos
68/72
but the bench seat I took out of my 65 El-Camino
now resides in a 66 buick skylark conv.
And I know for a fact seats from other GM same type
models Buick.Pont,Olds skylark, cutless Mont Carlo fit my later model
El-Camino. These are 78 to 87 years.
So I ASSUME Two door Chevy/Pont/Old/Buick seats
bench to bench. are a bolt in. inthe same year grouping
Another neat thing is the BOP cars, seemed to
be orderd with more options. So neat things like, power seats are in more
abundanceand are a niceadded extra

When you say "split bench" seat, you mean a single bench
that the backs fold forward or something like a 60/40 split bench seat; actually
two seats but not buckets. I don't think Chevelles had a true split bench
seat, just a normal bench and buckets.
