  !

Welll actually a hemi isn't MOPAR exclusive. I seen an aftermarket
company making Hemi heads for Chevy engines! I actually seen one of these
installed and running in a NSRA rod in Louisville last summer. Needless to say
I did a double take and said ..what the .  I went home and
researched and found the company that's making these
heads.

Maybe I can put a "Hemi" in my Chevelle?  Hm now you have me
  thinking

Where are you getting this 528...as in what did it start life out
  as?  a 426?

  A
friend of mine is into NSRA rods and is using old Hemi engines out of Desoto's
just to be different.  He has my respect...and my best wishes nothing
  breaks far from home.

Didn't Chrysler buy the Hemi Technology when they bought
  Desoto?

  Steve

Re: [Chevelle-List] Non Chevelle (Hemi)Steve,The 454 in the Chevelle has over 500
horsepower at the moment, it is a solid 12 second car.  I built the
motor in the Chevelle myself.I was kinda trying to put a little wiseguy
humor into this thread :-).  However I do plan on building the Charger
to be an easy 11 second car, besides, the Hemi I was talking about isn't a
little dinky 5.7 like the trucks are getting ;-).  Can we say 528

The 528 Hemi is a crate motor sold brand new by Mopar Performance for a price tag of about $13,000.  There are other makes that have "hemis".  All it is is a hemispherical combustion chamber.  Some Fords have what is called semi hemi heads, even the motor out of my mom's Jaguar has a Hemi head on it.  I'm not sure about Chrysler getting the technology from DeSoto, been a while since I did any significant reading on it.

Maybe I can put a "Hemi" in my Chevelle?  Hm now you have me thinking

Yeah I thought about that too, only in the sense of dropping a Mopar Hemi in one hehehehe.   It is possible for a street application, but major frame modifications are needed.  Too much work for me.
