Hi all, I havent been on the list the whole summer so I would like to send a big hi to all on the list, especially to those who missed me (now that is a short list! haha) I havent been here because I'm trying to detox from americans, before you all get angry and start yelling and telling me how a racist and stuff I am, in my defense I have to tell you that I met some really really bad examples from this list. I started out meeting Herb at the end of Power Tour in Kissimee, he talked me into drinking beer and then we went dragracing on a machine in old town, and thats all stuff I normally dont do. THEN! Mr. Ed Riggins came to Europe with his wife, well lets say it in this way, the Eiffel tower is now pending and the Pisa tower is straight and the Colusseum isnt looking very nice either. We got so tired of him and we wanted him so badly to never come back so the last day of their visit my GF tried to back over him with the car. I still take my medecine but now I'm back Ciao André > I now have the body off of my 71 chevelle and i will soon be replacing > everything on > the chassis. Larry & Clint, We landed in Miami, and picked up the super special rental car, an amazing corolla with four doors :O), then we worked our way over to naples and did the coast up to tampa and then to Orlando, then to Daytona (I love that place) and back to Orlando and down to miami again and two weeks and lots of dollars later flew home with the suitcases stuffed with car parts and clothes and things that were either cheaper or unavailable here in Europe. All in all about $9-10K went out this time and that includes like $1-1,5K of car parts and tickets and everything. For my Chevelle I had four complete qa-1 coilovers and a much needed digital protractor plus some small stuff. Then I carried 20lbs of chrome moly rod ends for a friend and some 35lbs of msd dragster ignition parts for another friend. Then due to the bad weather we shopped and shopped and shopped :o) I also managed to see the end of the power tour and to meet Herb and his friends, and we spent the night together in Kissimee at a restaurant and drinking a few beers in old town. RE: [Chevelle-list] I'm back & stuff for sale...
Actually, Christmas has been a slow and painful process. I planned early last summer to do these changes over the coming winter so I had to get the parts. I originally wanted the 600 because it's rated for 600hp/600lbs but I didn't like the gear ratios it had. The 500 ratios are 3.27, 1.98, 1.34, 1.0, 0.68 compared to the 600 with 2.87, 1.89, 1.28, 1.0, 0.64 (0.82 optional). After talking with the Keisler guy, he said the 500 would be more than stout enough to handle what I am building. He did make a good point - 95% of the time the tranny won't be feeling the peak output of the engine and when it does, it's only for short periods of time. It's rated for 550hp/550lbs and I'm expecting (according to Dyno 2000) to be in the 550-600hp range. If everything goes well I'd like to run the engine on a dyno before I put it back in the Elky so I know for a fact what it's got. Hi Guys (and gals), I just got home (Sunday) from nine days of work in Hawaii and Guam, no really, I went there for work! Did I miss anything Chevelle related while I was away? Anyway, much to my surprise, my new Keisler 5 speed arrived yesterday, so I figured before I started to list things on eBay, I thought I'd see if anyone here was interested in a slightly used Richmond 6 speed and/or a set of iron rectangular port big Chevy heads, casting #14096188. [Chevelle-List] I'm back & angry.
Dammit Just put the finishing touches on the new 383, and wouldn't ya know it, something had to go wrong. As I'm filling the coolant, the dang thing starts pi$$in all over my garage floor! Turns out the Sun-Pro temp sensor was sealing properly. Now I get to drain it all out again, and buy a new guage and sensor. Oh, well. It could be worse. If that's the only problem I end up having, I'll be happy again! Later guys/gals. Kerry A. Fruhauf, SSgt, USAF Wing Information Assurance Office Nonsecure Voice: 552-1064

Herb, This is a Chevelle list. The Tempest was made by The P word div of GM. Yeah, The Tempest will have an overdrive trans(automatic) behind the 421. The Elky will get one too at some point. Most likely a T56. Congrates to you and Carol on 11 years of marriage. Linda and I are working on our 24th year and still manage to put up with each other. Hi Mike, Yep, no more problems, except one... the rear axle seal still leaks. I've been in contact with Currie recently and hopefully we'll get it fixed soon. As for Carol bringing me better luck, that's a given! We just had our 11th aniversary on the 19th and I couldn't have found a better woman if I tried! Speaking of overdrive, are you going to put one in the LeMans before the Power Tour next year? [Chevelle-List] I'm back...
I'm finally home after putting nearly 6000 miles on the ol' Elky in the last three weeks! Power Tour was a blast, I highly recommend it to everyone - at least once! Overall the Elky proved pretty darn reliable with only a few minor problems along the way... The passenger side axle seal developed a leak on the way to Memphis. One of my muffler brackets lost the bottom half. I broke the reverse lock-out pin off the Long shifter. The clip that holds the wiper linkage to the wiper motor came off - in the rain of course! Other than that, I'm very pleased with Ol' Yeller! For those of you that missed Chevelabration - Find a way to be there next year! Chuck, great job, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we'll be back! MCC NE was the third and final stop on my vacation - and it too was great in spite of the rain! Thanks Donnie! Before I left, I promised to put pictures up on my website. However, I have some bad news... I have about 600+ megs of .jpgs and .mpegs so there's no way I can fit it all. If anyone is interested, I'd be more than happy to mail a cd with all my pics and vids. I only request $3 to cover the cost of the cd, case, envelope, and postage - payable to my Paypal account "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" If you want the cd send me an email with your mailing address and I'll get the burner going! Josh At least your 66 was going to die a dignified death on a race track. Unlike the 65 I just bought for 300 from a guy that drops all his cars in the weeds. I couldn't see her dragging her belly on the road. He said he had some new drag plates he was going to install so when he was going down the road he could lower the shocks and throw sparks for 50 ft. I had that problem also with ARP main bearing studs and also with ARP head bolts on my 427. The headers didn't fit because the lower head bolts stuck up too high with the washers. I hate the 1/2 socket head of the ARP head bolts that don't look close to stock size. I don't use any ARP bolts anymore except for rod bolts - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

RE: [Chevelle-List] I'm Back and did I miss this page.
Been There Done That..I fortunately checked for clearance on my BBC and could not see light between the stud and pump. I ground off enough oil pump casting..more than you would think.. so I could see daylight. I've also seen hardened oil pump driveshafts that have sleeves thicker than others. This is another area to check for clearance. Walt >= Original Message From [EMAIL PROTECTED] = >I have a hell of a story to tell. [Chevelle-List] I'm Back and did I miss this page.
I have a hell of a story to tell. We have been spending money like crazy on big block parts and just found out our problem and I need to share it because the manufactures are not going to. I have been have a spinning rod bearing and oil pressure problem for about 5 years now and have just found the problem. I installed a set of arp main studs and nuts in my motor and when I installed the oil pump the housing on the pump does not clear the nut on the stud. When you tighten the pump it gets close to being seated properly but keep around .010" gap on one side. oil sprays out the gap and doesn't feed the motor. I talked to Melling the have completely recast it's bbc HV77 a year and a half ago because of so many problems. ARP has begun putting a note to check for clearance here and supplied shorter and 12 point nuts to alleviate the problem. I'm glad this page is up. Re: [Chevelle-List] I'm back - again
Herb, welcome back brotha! This is Eddie from sunny Florida. See you're finished with knife and fork school. Good on 'ya, shipmate! Congrats, LT Lumpp! I'll be writing you off-line to chat with you about your 66 Elky and your wiring problems. I ain't any good on a computer, I did, however, install Norton AV/Internet AV last night. (turns out I didn't have the dreaded virus). Someone accused me of being a cheapskate last night on the list, ha! inexperienced computer user, perhaps, but I do know a thing or two about Chevelles and BBC, especially wiring. Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Hi Mike, Thanks for the offer. The most likely thing I'll need help with is coping with not being able to drive my cars and bike year 'round! : ) As for a conflict of interest, probably not since I don't have anything to do with that project... and I keep the Elky as far from saltwater as possible! Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Herb, I live in Fairfax, VA about 1 mile outside the Beltway. I'd be happy to give you a hand. Let me know when you arrive. My company is bidding on the USCG Deepwater contract, so we'll have to avoid any conflict of interest (Chevelles don't float, right?). I belong to the Maryland Chevelle Club - there isn't one in VA that I know of. It's worth joining. Check them out at http://www.chevelles.net/mcc/mcc.htm. I know several other members are on the list, including the current president, Donnie Gates.
