Re: [Chevelle-List] Looking for some parts
I have a black dyed (previously gold) dash on my Elky that I dyed 10 years ago or so and it still looks good so this works. Many OEM interior parts came to the dealership in one color only ( mostly tan and the bodyshop tech dyed it) If you prep the parts correctly and use good quailty prep dye it will last a long time. On the steering wheel you would be better off replacing it. My dash pad is in good shape, minor cracking on the corners. Really not bad at all. Although the whole interior is old and dirty. Steering wheel is cracked. But I got it if you can get me black replacements. :)Tim.Proud Owner: '69 ChevelleOn Wed, 25 Sep 2002 23:53:05 EDT[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Ok guys, looking for a few items for my 69. I still need a green Malibu steering wheel. I also need the trim for the vinyl top and a green dash pad, mine has a few big cracks in it. No one seems to have reproduced the vinyl top trim yet and I am coming up empty handed on the steering wheel. I also need to repaint some of the metal interior parts like the glove box door, pillars, headliner trim. Does anyone know what color that is? Is it called dark green or Hunter Green or something like that? I tried that interior paint that OPG sells and it sucks. No matter what I did, it would not stick. It kept separating from the metal and leaving circles, almost as if the metal was contaminated with oil or grease. I tried every single cleaner/degreaser I had and still did it. I could not even get any type of primer to stick to it very well. Any suggestions??? RE: [Chevelle-List] Looking for some parts
Just a note but a great number of new car interior parts are painted - especially with something called "soft touch paint". My guess is dye and paint, properly applied, would last as long as the car. -Original Message-From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Dwight FultonSent: Friday, September 27, 2002 1:31 AMTo: chevelleSubject: Re: [Chevelle-List] Looking for some parts Tim, You can dye your interior parts black with vinyl prep vinyl dye. Re: [Chevelle-List] Looking for some parts
I have a bundle of chrome I picked up at a swap meet and it might have the vinyl pieces in it. I will try to check when I go out again.
