Re: [Chevelle-List] My engine!
Title: Message Thanks Brad! Those are better numbers than I thought. I was figuring about 340 hp & 370 torque. I'll keep the cam change in mind! :-) I really appreciate your help! Don -- This is only an educated guess based on the program and the inputs you gave. I could not find a stock cam like yours, so I used a Comp XE268 as the baseline and dropped the lift a fraction and opened up the separation from 110 to 112, neither of which made a big difference. You should have a really wide power band with a terrific torque curve, with over 90% of peak torque from 2000 to 5000 RPM. RE: [Chevelle-List] My engine!
Title: Message Without more info, I can only guess. I have Dyno2000, so if you do get full specs, or have a cam you want to compare, I can help out. I used the GM 049 head (253cc port) flow file, and made a bunch of assumptions about the specs. Your 0.030 over 402 is 408.1 cubic inches, I used 9:1 compression as a guess, 800 CFM carburetor, Dual Plane intake, Small Tube headers with mufflers, and a "high performance street" hydraulic cam. The program used a pretty basic cam with 278 duration and .478 lift on a 108 lobe center. This all got you and estimated 375 HP @ 5000 RPM and 430 TQ at 4000 RPM. Before you think this is bad, check out the full curve: RPM HP TQ 2000 155 407 2500 197 414 3000 240 419 3500 285 427 4000 328 430 4500 359 419 5000 375 394 5500 368 351 6000 343 300 If you want to wake it up, add a roller cam. Want to really go crazy, a roller cam and a great aftermarket head. Adding a roller with this setup pumped up the curves by about 30 Lb-Ft across the board, with 438 at 2000 RPM and 471 at 4000. This brings HP to 419 at 5000 rpm. Roller cams mean retrofitting the lifters and extra costs.
