Re: [Chevelle-List] Steering column + welder + air compressor
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List the main reason is the automatic has a place to attach a lever for the gear shift, and the manual does not (unless its a older car- early 60's and before) this to me looks pretty tacky, unles you had a floor shited automatic, some of these have the gear shift indicator on the dash or column, i think thats why he changed it??? maybe the column has diffrent hooks ups for manual & auto???, my 68 chevelle has a auto matic column and is a manual trans, i have a column with out the "bump" on it i will be putting in soon - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List why do you have to change the steering column when you convert the trans. i'm in the process of doing this and am not aware of this.please advise me!! -Original Message- From: Cecil "Steve" Martin [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, January 29, 2002 12:39 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Chevelle-List] Steering column + welder + air compressor Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List "Gents" (any ladies?), I "have" to replace my steering column since I am doing a perversion from automagic to shtick. I have the opportunity to get a late 70's steering column that's tilt for a manual tranny. Cost is $50. Would this work in my 69? Would I need to mod it? Can it be done? What's the going rate for a used tilt column? Anyone know where I can get a used mig/gas welder at a shocking good price? Air compresor?
