They don't sell retail, so the information would be useless.

That's all fine John, But it seems a little one sided as you ask (and

Big difference Trooper. One is a technical question and another is really a
private business matter. It's almost like asking him what his price as a
dealer is on the parts he sells.

RE: [Chevelle-List] bucket seat foams - 1966-69 and 1970-72 A-body cars

2003-01-25 Thread John Nasta
Thanks Josh. Yes, it is very different for a consumer to tell other people
where to get a good deal than it is for a retailer to give out the names of
his suppliers. The consumer has nothing to lose but the business owner does.
We do lots of research to find these places and usually have to pay
thousands of dollars for a buy-in (initial inventory order) in order to
qualify for a wholesale account. To go through all of that and then give
away the information the same day so that people can go around you is
business suicide.

I don't want to make a big deal out of it because they don't sell to the
public anyway and also because I don't feel like I should have to defend
this one. Ask any parts house to email 600 people a list of their suppliers
and see if they say ok.

Sorry, but on this one I've got to side with John. I think we're lucky to
have an inside man on this list because the guys that do this for a living
always have better information than civilians. I thought the heads-up on
those seat foams was solid information and that helps us all to build better
cars for less money.

I've been thinking about just having the iron heads on my 402 ported and
swapping in a bigger cam, new intake and carb. Does anyone have any
recommendations on a cam? I've got a garden variety big block with 350 hp

Just an FYI. I found a new supplier for bucket seat foam sets and unlike my
previous supplier (who always seemed to have them on backorder), they list
separate sets for 1966-69 and 1970-72. They say that the hog ring locations
are different for each of these year ranges even though the overall shape of
the foam is the same, and that these foams will be a better fit than the
ones that are supposed to fit all of those years because the hog ring
indentations are in the right places.

Anyway, just passing along the info that there seems to be a source for more
accurate reproduction foam sets (they are also more expensive, so I will
continue to carry the others for the price-conscious, just remember to order
early because they are always backed up).

Hi Dwight,

The bench
sets are available right now for 1968-72. You'd need to specify whether you have
spring or foam backrests. Unfortunately they are $25 to ship because they are
so huge and fairly heavy. You can find them at SF00130
and SF00023.
