[Chevelle-list] Gas Prices

2005-08-30 Thread D.R. Jones
Plenty of crude for sale by the Asian markets, guess they are not using
all the crude if they have plenty for sale.

While I don't have any oil wells, I do have natural gas wells. When a
natural gas shortage is reported I can look at my paperwork and see that
the production company just stops flowing gas from the wells. I know
that the same is done when oil shortages are reported, they just stop
pumping to create a shortage. In other words the shortage is created by
the people who control the flow of the product-the companies themselves.
Which in turn gives them the right to raise the cost to us-the end user.

Just my 2 cents.

I've had 3 top notch mechanics tell me that the ARCO blend is not that good for your
engine. I don't know much about the ARCO blend versus Shell, 76, Chevron, but I do
trust the opinions and experience of these people.

My 2 cents.

I dont know what the oil companies are up to -- probably nothing
good -- but $1.75 may actually be cheap. Somebody wrote a couple
years ago:

> I think that gasoline was around .32 per gallon in 1965
> (hi-test). Today right now hi-test is around $1.60 and that's only in the last few
> months

The Inflation Calculator says that, in general, what cost .32 in
1965 would cost $1.79 in 2002. Assuming the writer's memory about
the 32 cents in 1965 (before the big oil crisis, wasn't it?) is
correct, gas at $1.79 today wdnt be out of line.

The writer also recalled:

> Originally, a 1965 mustang was around $2500 for a v-8 model.
> You could buy a new 1962 dodge 426 wedge with a 4-speed fpr $2200.

How much is a new Mustang today?

Does Exxon or Mobil control any other brand names of gasoline?  I
don't remember seeing them around the San Francisco area and they have
no listings for staations in the phone book
like Shell, Chevron, Etc.  Also, do they have affilliated brands

I hear we
are going to hit close to $3.00 a gallon by the summer. Want
gasoline
prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united
action. Phillip
Hollsworth, offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE
SENSE than
the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going
around last
April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because
they knew
we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas.
It was more
of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever
thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really
work.
Please read
it and join with us!
By now you're
probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super
cheap. Me
too! It is currently $1.97 for regular unleaded in my town.
Now that
the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to
think that
the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50- $1.75, we need
to take aggressive
action to teach them that BUYERS control the
marketplacenot
sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each
day, we consumers
need to take action. The only way we are going to see
the price
of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not
purchasing
their gas!
And, we can
do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on
our cars,
we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas
prices if
we all act together to force a price war.
Here! 's the
idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline
from the
two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON, and MOBIL.
If
they are
not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If
they reduce
their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have
an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas
buyers.
It's really
simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me at this point...keep
reading and
I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!
I am sending
this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to,
at least,
ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least
ten more
(300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the
sixth generation
of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION
consumers!
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten
friends each,
then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes
one level
further, you guessed it. THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
How long would
all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten
more people
within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could
conceivably
be contacted within the next 8 days!!! Acting together we can

The Indianapolis news last night reported that people had actually paid
up to $5.00/gal for gas.
Idiots. The Attorney General is quite involved, and those gas stations
are refunding the money.

I can't believe people are silly enough to actually pay $5! Jeez...

Yea, rotten greedy bastards. As if the country hasn't been thru enough
as it is.

May the worst of the frivolous lawsuit lawyers descend upon these
companies in droves

Indy had some gas stations up to $5.00/gal for a while.

You're very close to all the carnage. I hope that things are safe for you
and yours tonite. I heard about WTC7 going down todayit probably won't
be the last one that will have to be dropped due to damage.

I haven't flown since the 70's. It wouldn't bother me if all flights were
stopped. I realize it would hurt a lot of businesses and pleasure planning,
but this will not be the last time this happens. The militant idiots of the
world are just entering the arena that we all figured no one would fear to
enter. If our borders weren't so soft and our immigration policies were in
order, this might not have happened. It saddens me greatly to see this
country being defaced like thisnothing short of a large mushroom cloud
would do justice to these assholes.

I'm really glad the borders have been closed and all flights have been
stopped. The next step would be to remove any and all questionable people
in this country and keep it closed for awhile until we can beef up our
security. This makes Pearl Harbor look like a day in the park and it
wouldn't bother me to see us go to war and eradicate the globe of these morons.

Well, that's just price gouging. I'm sure that those states have at least
six months supply harbored, and there's no reason for the market to have to
react so quickly, other than to rip people off, especially so far from where
anything happened.

Everything seems to be quiet here in downtown Brooklyn. The wreckage is
still burning, and another 50 story building collapsed about a half hour
ago.

Makes me wonder why we allow passenger flights at all. Why does everybody
need to be getting onto airplanes? The world might be a better place if
everybody would just stay home.
