Thanks guys for all the input.
I seen an article in a super chevy mag. and this guy was running 20 inch rims with something like a 315 cross section and a 35 or 40 profile. Damn thats a lot of tire.
Take it easy

Larry,
Do you happen to know what the backspacing of those wheels is. Also, did you need to raise the back end any?
Much appreciated.

  Dan,  I have a 65 Malibu SS and I run 225-70 14s on 8"
Cragars.  It fits and doesn't rub.

Howdy, I'm
looking to get a new set of wheels and tires for my 65 Malibu. Right now it
has 14 inch wheels with 195-70 tires. The car sits at stock height. I would
love to run a wider tire, but I only have about 3/4 of an inch between the
sidewall and the fender lip on the rear. Do any of you have any info on what
combo will fit and look good? Thanks Dan McIntosh 65

Dan,
On my ragtop
I'm running 235-60 16s on 87 IROC Z wheels.  I'm also running Hotchkis
suspension which lowered the car about an inch".  If I fill the car with
people & turn all the way to right, the right front tire will rub the
inner fender.  Other than that, nothing has ever touched & the
wheel wells are full.
