Yeah... this makes sense so it shouldn't matter
if it's 4 core, instead of the stock 3 core.

  Just
FYI, the 68 fan shroud is a year specific item. It has 3 bolt holes to hold it
to the radiator top plate instead of 2 like the 69-72's. As long as you have
the same top plate, get the shroud for the engine in the car, not what
radiator is in it. Big blocks are 2 inches longer than a small block which
brings the fan closer to the radiator. If you put a big block shroud on a
small block car, the fan will not sit in the shroud where it needs to be
  making it ineffective.

I just looked in the OPG catalog and I see what you are talking about. I just measured mine and it measures the same 29x19. Maybe this is something new. They were not available when I was looking. I would call them and verify the application and ask about the return policy just in case. Good Luck, Scott--- On Wed 05/03, Kevin Riel < [EMAIL PROTECTED] > wrote:

[Chevelle-list] 68 fan shroud

2006-05-01 Thread Kevin Riel

I lost the original fan shroud for my 68 El Camino,
327 Powerglide years ago.  During that time the radiator was replaced with
a 4 core unit.  Now that I want to get a shroud back on it, should I buy a
shroud for a small block or one for a big block?  The clips are still
in place in the bottom of the radiator supports to hold it, and the speed nuts
are there in the top.  I just need to get the right unit to put in.
I'm worried that a small block unit won't fit since this is a deeper radiator
than what was in there as stock.
