Re: [Chevelle-list] 72 N.O.S grill

2003-07-31 Thread Chad P.

I don't know how close a 72 grill is to a 71, but I
have 3 grills, and One has several cracks (junk grill) and one is near
perfect, and one has 2 cracks.  If you are interested in those grills,
email me offline at [EMAIL PROTECTED].  We'll
work something out.  I can take pictures for you too if you would
like.  :-)

Since we are on the subject of grills, I'd like to repair a
missing piece on my '71 Malibu grill. It's missing a small horizontal piece,
made of gray plastic, and I'd like to see if I can repair it before I look
  into a replacement.

  Does
anyone have a junk grill that I might be able cut the missing piece
  from?

John;
Sarge said to check with you about new Chevelle grills.
Do you sell them? How much are they? These blemishes are pretty small, I am
being picky, because I want to take this Chevelle to Shows. I was wondering
if I applied a slight amount of heat if it wouldn't bring the black back...
I don't know what to do. I've got a new repro grill that looks like
one(dimples in the plastic, poor craftsmanship) an old 72 Grill that is
okay, but looks old, and this new one. I should have just bought a new N.O.S
grill..(sigh) oui vae :-)

I agree, paint it, especially if you have it out of the car. Find the correct finish,
try to clean the spots just in case it is something that will eat through the paint.
They come out very well and no one will know unless you tell them. Believe me, a lot
of cars at shows have thier grill repainted and no one is the wiser. Good luck with
whatever you decide to do.

No, Its N.O.S and was listed as perfect. But it looks like
solvent got onto it in a couple places and bleached the black plastic white.
no damage or pits, and for $100 I don't know whether to send it back or just
paint it. But I hate to take it to a show and get dibbed for painting
itThe seller said " gee I thought it was to be painted so I didnt mention
  the blemishes...ah well, should've paid $275 for a new N.O.S I guess..

We sell
the repro ones for about $89 and they look great. Personally I would not accept
a NOS piece that is damaged, especially for $100.

It's NOS
and it’s pitted? That sucks. I assumed it was used.
