Sarge, backseats "Bow in the middle", if you will. As
I racall, the bottom comes out first but pushing the
bottom front in or back toward the trunk and lift. and
the back part of the seat will un-hook and come out.
Then the backrest is the same deal. It hooks at the
top and and the bottom and the bottom would unhook
forst allowing the top to be lifted and unhooked.
Hard to explain, really..

Sarge,
Removing the bottom seat
will give you all the access you need to install seatbelts.

Some on the list already helped you on the "push down on front and then
push back on seat bench". When you said "seat belts" I don't know if you
are referring to lap and / or shoulder? I just added shoulder belts to my
'66 last winter and if your are doing shoulder belts and it's much easier
with the rear seat back removed also. Typically the rear seat back is
hooked at the bottom edge by two clips that hook over part of the seat
frame. With the seat bench removed you can see these. Bend these clips up
slightly and pull the seat frame down and forward. The top then hangs on
two or three hooks along the rear deck. Also removing the arm rests and
window cranks makes taking the rear seat back out of the car much easier.

OK, It's been a while since I've posted on the list. But it seems that I
am
in need of your expertise! Apparently I have been defeated by my backseat.
I'm trying to remove it so I can install new seatbelts for my kids, and I
cant figure out how to get it out. It seems to just be a matter of tugging
on it with enough force, but it's awfully tight, and I'd hate to trash the
seat by ripping it out in haste. Anyone ever have the rear seat out? Is
there a trick?

On a completely separate note, my new 383 is running like a champ, now that
I figured out my problems. It seems a Holley blue electric fuel pump does
not quite agree with an Edelbrock 1406. Something about the PSI being off
by 10 or so! :)

At the front bucket push the back seat?

I just checked the Fisher Body Manual. It says:

Push lower forward edge of seat cushion rearward; then lift upward.

The hooks do face forward, but they are sort of the shape of a capital G
(i.e. there is a slight "curl" at the bottom). So, you have to push down,
back, then up and then pull forward.

At about center of the front bucket, push your back seat (part you sit
on) down and back (toward the rear of the car), then up.
You should also be able to see what is holding it in by looking under
the front edge, again, about 12"-15" from the side panel.

Yes, they can be a pain, and probably worse if you're a big guy.
I have to get in the car, squeezed between the front seat and the back
seat, and use my knees to push down and back to get mine out, or at
least use my weight to push down and back.

Good luck,

There are 2 forward-facing hooks mounted to the floor. Push down and pull
forward to get the seat base frame unhooked.

Thanks everyone for the info! I hope I can get her outta there, and get my
seatbelts installed. I'd love to be able to take the whole family out
before the snow starts flying again! Anyone know if I need to get the upper
part of the seat off to install the belts, or would just the bottom give me
access to everything I need?

To get the base out, push down hard on the front edge, then pull forward.
The back is held by a couple of bolts at the bottom, and hooked over the top
(so lift up to remove it).

Are you talking about the bottom of the rear seat? If you are, I believe my
67 should be the same as your 69. I had to push really hard on the very
bottom to release the catch on the seat, then it comes right out. It is
also hard to replace them. Hope this helps...
