Re: [Chevelle-list] Carb leak
All is good with the carb. I got the factory aluminum seal washer for the inlet, cranked it down tight & no more leak. The carb guy I deal with said that the nylon gaskets are junk, on Holleys and Rochesters. Thanks for the great support, BillL
Re: [Chevelle-list] Carb leak
NOT SURE IF YOU CAN FIND THIS BUT I HAVE SEE AN EXPANDABLE FITTING ON A CARB BEFORE, LOOKED LIKE THE ONES FOR A FREEZE PLUG, TIGHTEN THE FITTING AND THE RUBBER EXPANDED FOR A TIGHT FIT. I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY AROUND BUT SOMEONE MAKES IT.NOT MUCH BUT IT IS A THOUGHT.
Re: [Chevelle-list] Carb leak
That's not an option. I paid big $$$ for this carb, it's going on an original restored numbers matching car. The seller is offering my money back, but these carbs are hard to find and I really want to make this one work. I don't believe the teflon tape will work either, since the leak appears to be coming from the area between the sealing surface on the carb bowl and the gasket on the inlet nut. I'll try it when I have time just to see, though. Thanks, BillL At 11:01 AM 4/29/2007, you wrote: Bill, I had the same problem with the treads being stripped. It has a nylon seal washer on it and the end of the helicoil may be sticking out a little too far. It's NOT leaking from the fuel line, it's definitely the inlet fitting. Anyone on the list ever run into something like this? Any ideas on a fix without sending it out to a rebuilder? Thanks BillL
