That's what they say John.. that the Guide is more common.. but I have owned
Nine 64/66 Cars/ El Caminos and have three on the patch now and they all
were BPC switches.. Even the spare floor shift column I have is a BPC unit.

Actually GUIDE is the more common one that you can get from most of the
parts suppliers. I know where to get the BPC ones though.

One is a Guide and the other one is stamped BPC.
These switches are not interchangeable

Hi Herb,
I'm trying to replace the turn signal switch in my
'66, and I have a feeling the part and the column are
from a diff GM car.. The part # on the switch is
5957063, and it reads "GUIDE". The corresponding
cancel cam is part # 386780.
Are you able to help in deciphering what car these
parts are from? I've had to order a switch twice now,
b/c both times I ordered for a '66 Chevelle, but got
something slightly different than what I have.
Hope all is well.
Regards,
Jim

My column is in the basement. An original '66 Malibu.
I checked and the part numbers are the same. Also,
where the turn signal lever screws to the switch it is
stamped with "066". I don't know if that means it's a
1966 or a mold number.

1964-66 Chevelle models except those with a tilt wheel.
1966 Chevy II Nova models.
1964-66 Cutlass F85 models execpt those with a tilt wheel.
Replaces GM part # 5957063 please look and compare your old turn signal cam

RE: [Chevelle-list] FW: help needed w/a part #

2005-03-24 Thread Dale
My GM parts book shows the 5957063 (group 2.895) as 64-66 Chevelle (exc.
Tilt wheel) and 66 Chevy (Nova type) but I think that's listed as "PLATE,
actuating" ($0.97) according to the book. The actual switch is shown as
387115 at $10.00.

Don't find the other number, 386780, but that's not unusual as numbers
change all the time. Book says 64-66 Chevelle (exc. Tilt wheel) cam is
382931 (group 2.896) ($0.56).

All prices are 1972 of course :*)
