Re: [Chevelle-list] Hesitates!
Thanks! Again! Did it the "scientific" way this time & the off-idle bog is lmost gone :-) I guess I have to experiment a little bit more with the acc pump, nozzles vacuum advance, and jets to get it 100% bog free? Got the seatbelts mounted, the car stereo working so today I'm gonna do some serious cruisin' for the first time, in a lng time :-) With a bit of luck I can attend som car shows too :-o Pelle - Original Message - From: Shawn Price To: The Chevelle Mailing List Sent: Tuesday, July 25, 2006 12:17 PM Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] Hesitates! The distiributor is a Mallory 8548201. The carb is a Holley 6213 (4165) 800 CFM DP with vacuum primary. The shooters got 37 stamped on them so I assume they are 0.037? Re: [Chevelle-list] Hesitates! new version
not to steal your thunder Pelle, but i have a similar problem, the car dies if i nail the throttle from a dead stop. also if i nail it at hwy speeds it will take off ok, but after i let up and start to cruise at a steady speed the car will jerk one time after about 10-15 seconds- then if i keep at a steady speed it will run fine. it is a stock 350 with a 600-650 double pumper holley carb, is this too big ?? Re: [Chevelle-list] Hesitates!
Pelle, Forgive me, but - it sounds like you are giving it too much gas too quick. Now, seriously, check the following - timing, which carb are you using?, carb float level, could be accelerator pump, vacuum leaks?, fuel pressure which will depend on the carb you are using, filter for debris, is the rubber part of the fuel line in good shape?, fuel pump working ok., plugs ok, pull out plugs and check the ends, this should get you in the ballpark. Re: [Chevelle-list] Hesitates!
It's when I floor it or give it gas very quick! If I sort of coax it or give it gas very gently i can get pass the "dead" zone. The vacum canister should be ok since the distr is a brand new HEI. Is there any tuning to do with an "out of the box" HEI distr? Float levels are approx in the center of the sight plug!
