Re: [Chevelle-list] Q: Rear coils?
Hmmm mine were bolted to the axle and its a 68.. ok, not that it matters anymore I'll go IRS soon and my axle is sold to sweden. Ciao André Not in 68-72. No bolts strictly kept in place from compression. Trooper [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: They are supposed to be bolted to the axle. but not to the frame.. Ciao André My 72 is not. Re: [Chevelle-list] Q: Rear coils?
The travel of the shock would prevent the boing boing effect, and although I have broken a shock or shock mount, I've never launched a spring (in my '67's). In my '64 wagon, the springs were bolted on the original 10 bolt, not on the 12 bolt I put in out of a '67. Re: [Chevelle-list] Q: Rear coils?
Pelle, The springs are limited in movement by the arc of the control arms and the length of the shocks. Put your car on a lift that will let the axle fully drop and then try to pull the coils out. I think you will find they are still under a great deal of tension and not likely to come off their perch. Re: [Chevelle-list] Q: Rear coils?
Pelle, Depends on the year 1964-early 1967... the coil springs are bolted to the rear. Bolt goes through the the bottom of the mount on the rear and has what looks like a "huge washer" that goes inside the bottom of the coil spring. The top does not get bolted in. Late 67-72, they went with what they call a "cup" design. The shocks just sit on the rear...on this cup...no bolts. No bolts on the top either. Donnie

[Chevelle-list] Q: Rear coils?
Are they straight should they have a waist on a 1971 Chevelle ht? I'm suspecting that I don't have the original rear coils? Best regards Pelle Andersson ___ Chevelle-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://chevelles.net/mailman/listinfo/chevelle-list_chevelles.net
