RE: [Chevelle-list] RE: Tubular Front A-arms

Clint,
 I don't plan on
doing off-road racing with my car. Considering that both of them are probably
much stronger than the factory stock unit and appears to be beefier than the
adjustable track versions some guys use, I think they will do the
job.

The bushings
are a matter of opinion. Some guys like rubber to stay away from the squeak
factor and like the softer response. While those del-la-lum bushing may be the
greatest thing since sliced bread maybe ... I doubt they account for the
$200 difference.

No, they
don't have the lowersyet. A lot of guys only go with the uppers. I beefed up
my lower with support welded in the bottom.

Here's the
quote he says about the A arms:
Crafted from 1" diameter
7/32" DOM steel, they come powder coated black or uncoated. These arms are Tig
welded in a jig for precise fit. The ball joint, cross shaft and bushings come
installed and the built in droop stop plate and  frame mounted bumper is
supplied also! They also have the new offset cross shaft for added camber
adjustment.
Here's the link to the e-bay
page:

But the point is,Steve, you are not paying for the
same thing. Have you ever looked closely at a GW tubular A-arm? They look much
beefier than the Spartan units and are braced a lot more. What bushings do the
Spartan units come with? Are the Spartan units available with DelaLum
bushings? Does Spartan build & sell tubular lower A-arms? Do they improve
  the caster & camber curves?
When I looked at the various A-arms on the
market,I wanted a set of four with the above qualities.

  Ummm
just my opinion, but considering the fact that upper tubulars for hot rods
running Mustang II front ends cost well under $300, I think those
mentioned, as well as another charge way too much as much as
over $500 for the same thing.

  Now
we can argue supply and demand, but I think lack of competition has more to do
with it than the cost of engineering and manufacturing. I don't mind paying a
fair price for a product, but to pay over double for the same part that
some other car owners are paying is out of line.

That's why I talked Spartan Rod Works into making tubular uppers for
the tall spindle upgrade. They are being sold on E-bay for just
  under $300.

  I
realize this doesn't help you since you want to stay stock, but it may help
others For a picture and more info see:

They are not the cheapest but my preference is
the Global West a-arms. Well built and available with Delalum bushings and
coilovers.
Fatman Fabrications sells a set of decent
tubular a-arms that would probably work well on your
application,also.

What vendor out there has the best deal on tubular
upper and lower front a-arms?  Anyone have any experience with these?
Anything to watch out for? I want to use my factory spindles and disc
brakes. These are for a 68 model Chevelle. Thanks, Mike
